1995 Monaco Kwikee Door Switch Problem

I replaced my old 1995 Kwikee steps. I have the complete new step package but when wired up they work in reverse. Extend when door closed and vice versa. Using a multimeter, the ground that controls the steps in and out motion is open when the door is closed and closed when the door is open. Does anyone know how the door switch actually works? Apparently, the sensors in close proximity to each other break the circuit. How would I get the opposite result so my new steps would work? Thanks

You can get the magnetic switches either "Normally Open (NO)or Normally Closed (NC)" You need "NO" for your new steps.

Switch the 2 leads going directly into the motor??? Sounds as if motor is wired backwards

I stand corrected then. My Quickie step does have to the 2 motor leads capable of being swapped with each other, which would cause motor to run opposite direction due to being a DC motor
