1996 Dynasty vs. Signature Series

Our first motorhome is this 96 Signature. We never got a manual and I find it frustrating learning everything by trial and error. I came across a manual available for a 1996 Dynasty that seems to cover much of what we've been trying to figure out... switches, controls, heating/cooling, plumbing, etc.. I can't look at it, so am wondering if much of the info would also apply to our Sig.. I realize engine, trans, etc. is different but thought we could likely learn a lot about the other stuff.?? Am I correct or are they totally different?

We've got manuals for some of the individual items, but would really like to find a coach manual. Signature seems rare, so thought maybe Dynasty would teach us similar things.??

Thanks.
HW

If you go to my blog page you will find schematics for signature and dynasty, the years I think are 1992 - 1999 on there. That's what we've used to find things out and fix some of the wiring and stuff. If you have any problems downloading them let me know. (I should actually put them in my Dropbox and just let me people get into that instead, much easier then the other way I did it.)

Thanks. I've referenced those and they are great. They are different from our 96 Sig but still interesting. I'd still like to get a manual, more for info on the operations of things.

Hi there,
I too have a 96 Sig and manuals seem to be totally unheard of. I did purchase via ebay a disk for a 96 Dynasty on line and it was very helpful. Obviously doesnt have info on a upgraded Sig coach like tag axel, larger engine etc. but still very helpful and interesting. Im taking it to Kinkos to have it copied today. I would strongly advise this $29 disk. Do you have any pics of your coach? Is it a Senator? Love to talk more, thanks,
Brett

That's the manual I was considering. Sounds like I should get it, too. I'm very interested in sharing info with you. From the looks of your picture we have identical twins. In all my searching, I've only seen one other similar coach, but it was shades of brown and I believe one year newer. The previous owner told me there were only 5 of these built.??

I have a 1996 Monaco Sig that my dad bought new from Monaco and has all that was given to him at the time of sale. I can tell you that the manual is not really a manual at all. It is a collection of the different installed appliances and options owners manuals. I have learned more from this site than I have learned from what was given to my dad. What I do use a lot is the Cummins M11 manual and the Allison Transmission manual. The wiring schematics were generic from coach to coach and you really have to figure them out. If you have added options they are not on the schematics. There is a binder with specs that has been helpful but then again it is generic to all coaches and you have to figure out which spec they used on the coach you have.

More possibilitiers

I want you to know that I have a complete Dynasty manual for my 2001 Dynasty that I have scanned. I scanned the full manual (roughly 400 pages) because I could not find a complete pdf file of the manual. The file is big, but I have a way to let you download it directly from a web page. Given the previous post that his father's Dynasty or Sig came with no manual and just a collection of manuals, then by 2001, Monaco had put together a full manual, plus a folder of all the individual equipment manuals. I have both for my rig. My rig is a tag axle Dynasty with virtually every option on it that was available. The manual has been very helpful. If a full 2001 manual would do you any good, email me to my personal address and I will give you a link that will let you download the full manual.

Drive many safe miles

Joe: Even though you think it's not that useful, I'd love to have that info package. I think you may not see the value because of your familiarity with the coach already. To us rookies, just stepping on board and looking at all the controls and switches is intimidating.... "What does this do?" is a familiar phrase. That book with "Before Driving; Water Systems; Starting and Operating" etc. might seem useless but it represents untold hours of figuring things out otherwise, especially to those of us new to RVs. Treasure it!

Gary: I sent you a message.

Again, thanks to all you helpful folks here. Your patience and help with us newbies is appreciated!

Brett:
Forgot to mention, I have a copy of the large Cummins manual for the N14. It's not a book that would be easily copied, but I'll try to help you out if I can.

Thanks Gary. I spent a couple hours looking through it last night. A lot of good info in there. Obviously, some of it is different, but it was still helpful. I'm going to buy the 1996 version as I think it would have even more similarities.

All the help is appreciated.
