1996 Monaco Signature Easco transfer switch not working?

Plugged in from our trip to the Casino last weekend and no landline power. Have read on other posts these switches default to generator (which is working fine i may add) Tried tightening the connections and blowing the unit out with compressed air,,, still nothing.

The million dollar question,,, has anyone tried to repair these things or is the new route the smart thing to do? AND i see online prices from $500 to $1800 on these units,,??? [moderator edit]?

They prioritize generator. They default to shore power or open.

If no power is detected some default to shore power while others sit with open contacts.

Once generator power is sensed, they delay 30 seconds and then switch to generator power, even if shore power is present.

You need to Google your brand and model for a trouble shooting guide.

You may also be able to use a different brand switch.

First are you sure you have power at the receptacle you are plugging into ?
If you have a volt meter and are comfortable poking around in the transfer
switch , test to see if voltage is actually arriving there .
You would first need to turn off the inverter so you can be sure any voltage
detected is from shore power .

Where did you get those prices ?
I don't believe I have ever heard of any being that expensive .

Most anything is repairable but no I have never heard of anyone repairing a
transfer sw , unless I was desperate I wouldn't .

You may have a surge protector in front of the transfer switch. If it is detecting a problem or is defective it will prevent the switch from activating the shore power. The generator has a seperate relay in the transfer switch so your symptoms would point to the transfer switch. Be aware there is a new transfer switch from ESCO LPT50BRD that uses one relay, defaults to generator, less expensive and does not hum.
I think you will find a replacement relay will be almost a expensive as a new unit

Will get a look at it with the meter and see if i can detect anything.

The prices I have got range from E Bay to ESCO Themselves.

I do have a surge protector. Leviton 32120-001

Landline power is getting right to the switch. Switch is not engaging to send it to the coach.

Replaced complete switch with a newer model Easco. All is well.

Joe, where did you end up finding a new switch?
Mine occasionally makes a very loud humming noise.

I stopped at North Trail RV in Fort Myers this Fall. Bought what they said was in the newer higher end model coaches. Seems to work well.
