1999 Diplomat 7.5kw onan quiet diesel no switch poer

Hey everyone got a problem and i hope someone can help me out here with my generator.

Couple weeks ago i had to hold the dashboard gen start switch for quite some time to get the generator to start. Normal shut down. Ever since then i have no power to from the switches on the generator or the dash. found the dash switch lead to the generator and when i hold the switch from the dash i have no power at the plug leading into the generator. When i press the switch on the front panel (onan calls it the left as the front faces the driver side wheel) i get no clicks or anything remotely like the generator is trying to start. have 12volts going to the generator from the two studs on the rear of the generator (aka right) facing towards the rear of the rv.

Any diagnostic steps to help? i tried to take the front panel off but found out i have to remove the top panel, which would require my engine hoist and alot of patience so im hoping its something quite simple.

On the front of the generator there is a small cover that provides access to the radiator fill cap. There is also 2 fuses located under the cover, they are in protective type holders. Check both the fuses to make sure you are getting power to the starting system.

There are actually 3 fuses under the small panel

Fuse F1 (control circuit) 10 ampere mini-bayonet
Fuse F2 (starter solenoid circuit) 10 ampere mini-bayonet
Fuse F3 (glow plug circuit) 25 ampere

Did you find 2 10 amp fuse, F2 is the starter solenoid circuit. That's probably the one you are looking for.

Since you are not getting any power to the switches you cannot get any type of blink code from diagnostics.

Your best bet is to contact
Cummins Onan
1-800-888-6626

They are in Minnesota

PCB call Monaco at 877-466-6226 and ask for Bill Birch in publications and ask him for a digital copy of the wiring diagram, you have a fuse or relay somewhere that is causing no 12 volt voltage at the gen.

He indicates he has 12 volt power to the generator studs, this should provide the power for the switches. Since the switch on the generator itself does not have power it must be the circuitry within the generator itself.

I called today and talked to tech support. i didnt see who i was suppose to cal until just now. I talked to tech support and Robert Bigbee said they dont have any diagrams for the 1999 diplomat because their filing system isnt what it is now cause they were using microsoft??? Didnt make much sense but he sent me a 21 page diagram for a 2000 diplomat/endevor with a rear slide in the bedrook, which i dont have.

I have 12 volts at the studs located on what would be the generators right hand side.

Correct i contacted cummins and they were able to send me a makeshit diagram but it isnt very indepth so im just going to have to remove the generator and take it apart.

Called monaco today for wiring diagrams and to see if they made a gen slide out retro kit fro my 99. the lady i talked to in parts gave me two possible part numbers that would fit the 99 diplomat i just have to go measue the opening.

one was 27"x90" and the second was 33"x90". 860 for the 27" and 650 for the 33". lets hope its the latter. Its pouring right now so cant do much til it clears up.

I just got shut down so hard for asking the robert bigbee in the tech department for Bill for the wiring schematic. he said that he doesnt do anything technical and is gracious enough to burn copies for them and said he was trying to shut me down when he was talking to bill about me asking for him
