Fat fingured it, remove the small woof piece above the microwave, you will see 2 brackets remove those bolts, then remove the 2 exhaust filters ans you will see two crews holding the microwave to the cabinet, its heavy, have some support

Im impressed with every post the amount this community comes to help others. Thanks everyone. Now to install the new whirlpool and figure how to run 2 bolts through the top of the slide out to attach the new microwave to the roof. Id like to pop rivet the 2 brackets onto the top of the new microwave but i cant see whats underneath the top through the fan grate. Dont want to drill and hit something important and waste $320.

While you are doing this, you might want to consider installing an outside vent. Here is a forum post where this is discussed/shown.

Have only replaced a few microwaves (mine twice and 3 for friends), but they've all had a bracket that mounts to the wall and then the microwave is essentially 'hung' or 'hooked' to that. Then a few well-placed screws from inside cabinets/whatever to the microwave to lock it in place.
Is yours different?

all the ones that i've installed in stick built and my coach had the bracket on the wall and 2 bolts on top that go through the upper cabinet. Those upper bolts 'suck' the microwave up and secure it in place.
There is one manufacture (drawing a blank on who it is) that has 2 long bolts that go through the front vents at a diagonal and attach to a wall mounted bracket behind the microwave. They are for the microwave that doesn't have a cabinet or shelf above it, basically floating on the wall. Those are rare but they are out there.

The 2 diagonal long bolts are for sharp. We are replacing with a whirpool and im not impressed at all with the tiny bracket it comes with compared to the full size mount from sharp, which is lighter than the replacement microwave. The two bottom mount tabs bent while hanging the new microwave. Instead of the two bolts coming down from the cabinet, there is a metal bar running along the top of the slide with the long side facing forward. The old sharp had two L bracket pop riveted into the roof of the microwave and self tapper screws running into that mounting bar to hold it up and level. I drilled the rivets out, measured from the back wall to the top mounting bar above the microwave and drilled a 5/16 hole into the base of the two L brackets and screwed them into the top of the new microwave. When i pushed the microwave up while on the lower bracket, i propped it up underneath with a cardbord box and phone books to the desired height. then i took a long phillips extension with new self tappers and put two screws into each bracket into the top bar. The new microwave is really solid and i dont see it going anywhere.
