Wink Thanks alot rick

Just what I need something else for the honey do list.
I do thank you never gave the cut breakers a thought do you a have any idea what happened? I guess when I get the bedroom back together I will take a quick look at the breakers I think I'll put some electric grease on the rail could be that a little resistance could build up over time.

Hi John

The fact it happened on the hot side of the breaker, it had to a resistance problem where the breaker connects to the bus. The bus was pretty eroded where this breaker connected. I don't know if the previous owner had a problem or not.
I replaced the bus with a new one and put contract grease on them all, and replaced them all.
To me, it takes 10 minutes to open the breaker box and pull each breaker for inspection. I'm pretty electrical savvy. You could not tell from the front of the breaker that the back of the breaker was gone. Also no odor came from this. Just a delay in the AC starting. My AC units are the original ones and are 12 years old. I check the amps. They draw about 11 amps. So that's not the problem.
I'll just keep an eye on them.
Rick

old motor homes are like me, in need of some repair

That about says it I buy older stuff so I will have something to keep my mind working. I keep putting new parts in me so why should my toys be any different.

I hope the improved the design, the new ones I see on the web don't look any different. I keep thinking back to my old 93 8.3 had a square manifold that looked a lot more beefy

Thumbs up FYI The manafold is done

The job on the manifold is finished total cost came out to less than $700.00. no broken bolts so its back with all new bolts spacers and studs. I sprayed PB spray nut buster and tapped the bolts 3 times a day while I was waiting for parts. I don't know that helped but the guy I had change it was surprised it came apart that well.

On to the next project I just love getting a new to me bus. Thanks all who had ideas

John

For those contemplating this job, I took a tour of Performance Diesel of St. George UT last year. They had a redesign of the ISC/ISL manifold in the works at the time, not sure if it is in stock yet. Uses new metalurgy and a 3 piece design like the one pictured for better expansion/contraction control & minimal heat scouring of the septum where each bank of 3 cylinders ports to the turbo (the OEM units are cheapest cast iron & loose metal at this back-to-back heated casting point, that burnt metal goes thru your turbo & into exhaust). IIWM&I had time, I'd wait to get this replacement instead of getting another Cummins unit.

Ditto on the anti-seize treatment to assure bolts come out intact. On my rig this would be a DIY job, as the bed lifts to expose engine & turbo. I will suspend the turbo assembly on strut across bed frame to R&R the manifold when my time comes.

Hi John

Are you guys on your way yet? Right now we are in Fredericksburg, TX. We arrived here on Wednesday and will leave here this upcoming Friday. What a great place to be for a while.
I see you got your exhaust manifold changed. That's a great price. We've been gone 3 weeks now, and so far everything is running great. Next weekend we will be heading to Tucson AZ. I've never been there either.
Let me know how your trip is going when you have a chance
Rick.

Haven't left yet

No we are still here there are still a few bolts that need to be twisted, No that's not it we have final appointments to get out of the way May 7 is our jump date and seams to be holding. I did just found a small crack in the sky light. I'm not sure I can get one in time I think I'll replace it when I get back and just smutch < tech term > it up till than.

Thanks for asking
John

Hi John.

Great. You are leaving on my birthday. A great day it is. I'd put a little Caulk on it and desk it got your trip. Should be fine.
Where are you guys heading first?
The spring weather fronts will be gone then. Happy all is good. We are entering our first month gone and 7 more to go.
We are having a blast. It's my DW birthday today so I'm taking her out on the town with her new cowboy boots she wanted.
Great times lie ahead.
Safe travels
Rick.

Hay Rick
we want to do the western side of the Rockies then up to the Oregon and Washington then back over the Mountains to Glacier NP Then dive south before it gets to cold for this old Floridian. This is all the more interesting as my DW needs to get a shot in the eye about every 5or 6 weeks so we need to be in a place to find a macular degeneration specialist. Oh well they never said getting old would be all fun and games. So we may meet along the way or back here in FL, looks like your just up the coast from us here in Stuart
