(if this is in the wrong place, sorry!)

My wife and I are looking at upgrading from our 1991 gasser to a 1999 Serengeti. 330hp Cat engine, 6 speed Allison, and 8 bag Magnum chassis. Is there anything specifically I should be looking at on this coach? One thing I am totally unfamiliar with was the description of how the heating and hot water works -- burning diesel and using heat exchangers? Is that correct?

Overall the coach seems very nice, but it's a big and complex step up for me and I don't want to get myself into trouble

Thanks for feedback!

Steve

I have a 2000 seregenti with the same equipment and I love it. The hydraulic brakes could be a problem if the MH has been setting for awhile. Check the tires for a date as 7 year old tires need to be changed even if they look ok. The Serengeti is well made and will last a long time. Enjoy your purchase.

why do you need to change "7 year old tires even if they look OK?" The ones on my 2000 safari continental look good with non cracks and hold tire pressure perfectly and my local tire dealer says they are "no problem"., and he is a Caterpillar repair shop as well.

He may be right.....and he may be wrong. I had to buy a new holding tank
one time when I blew an old rear tire. Other people have had body damage.
If nothing else keep the front tires fresh. (my tires looked good, no cracks good thread, top brand)
