dw624, It sound like the same story of troubles that our good friends "Justruthi" had last year when they bought a 2011 Diplomat from MacMans at Q, last year.
The sales staff knew nothing and the techs were even worse. They were sent to Parker where there is no service done then to Yuma where there was very little done then to Lake Havasu to a private repair center. Then they came back to Earp CA. where Ken and I worked for a month trying to make things right. I will send you a private message with the name a number of some people at Monaco that tried to help. You must make a detailed list of all things that are not right and tell Monaco directly because things like fit and finish will not be taken care of after about 30 days or so. They had paint coming off at six months and Monaco would not stand behind there product. If you are staying for while at Emerald Cove in Earp CA we are at Riverland RV resort just down the street from you, stop by were in lot #42 and 43.

Mike, Dave stopped by to talk to us and it sounds like the same sad story all over again. Bad to no service from the dealers to the vendors, from a Quartzsite sale.

We bought our 08 from De-Martini in Nevada City as well. Great people with a terrific reputation.
Congratulations, you will love it. See if you can download the manual and you will be days and days ahead when you get it. The manual is around 240 pages and it seems every time I read mine I learn something new or at least am reminded of something. I got a neat DVD with mine too on some of the features and learning to drive it. You won't believe how much there is to learn and what great fun it is. They truly are amazing pieces of technology.
I live in Yuba City so if you are close by there are a couple of experienced folks ready and willing to help.
Depending on the engine, if you can get the Horton Fan option definitely go for it. It is a two speed fan that will save fuel and reduce engine noise dramatically.

Off to Mesa
Well the over night guaranteed delivery of the touch leveling pad that they thought was defective took 8 days to get here. Plugged it in and hit power and bang right back into default. They did a couple more tests with the multi-meter while the manufacturer was on the phone and found the power wires are shorted some where! So we are off to Mesa tomorrow to see if the
techs there can find where in Monaco's wiring harness it is shorted.
Since it was suppose to be fixed before we took possession the dealer is paying the fuel so that's a plus.
All in all we really do like the unit. It's a real beaut inside and out.

Dave, Don't hold your breath waiting for the fuel money. We've heard that one before from that dealer. Good Luck hope they get it done for you.

They met me at Terrible's and filled it up! Went to Mesa on Monday and had the leveling system as well as a few small things taken care and done by 3 pm on Tuesday! They are going to send someone out on Wed. morning to show the proper way to use the diagnostics on the tranny and other things! I'm a happy camper now!

considering a 2012 knight
Hi sorry you had trouble with your new coach. I am considering trading my 08 fleetwood providence on a knight. Have you been able to resolve your issue and what would you recommend if you were to do it over again? Any advise is appreciated. Thanks, Denis

Regarding the $3000 fuel card. We finally got ours a few weeks ago (mid-March). Purchase date was mid December. And yes, I had to make a few repeat e-mails to Momaco execs to push things along. I have the feeling that folks who make no effort to get their fuel card may never get one.
We were promised a lot of things from McMahon's that were not done before delivery. And getting them to make good on getting them done after the sale was not readily successful so I decided to immediately begin a refund request - not only on the Tyron and the Windshield protection, but also on the long term service contract. I had to make numerous phone calls to McMahons to determine who the person is that is responsible for getting my refund completed. Once I determined who that was, I had to make numerous calls to him to get it done. Finally, after a couple of months, we received our refund of nearly $10k for the undone stuff and the long term service contract. I'm a lot happier with the money that I would have been with the "deal".
As with the gas card, I have a feeling that those who don't continue to follow through with demands to make such shady dealers make good on promises (or refunds) will never get what they bargained for.
I would bet the dealers and manufacturers who stubbornly resist to make good on promises add a lot to their bottom lines from customers who don't persistently demand what they are due.
Don't give up on demanding your gas cards and whatever promises a dealer has made to you. Hold their feet to the fire until you are made complete with the deal. And don't hesitate to demand a refund if they drag their feet.
Purchase advice: do as much of a pre-purchase inspection as you possibly can on the particular unit you are interested in - right down to driving, functional tests and details... then make the results of those tests a part of the purchase agreement. Next, schedule your delivery inspection when you AND the dealer have a full day to go over everything in detail before you sign off on delivery. Lastly, schedule your delivery when you will still have at least a couple of weeks in the dealer's immediate vicinity so you will have time to make the dealer follow through on promised items that didn't get done before delivery and to take care of shakedown items that become apparent during the first few days using the RV.

gas card
Thanks for the heads up. Is the gas card connected to financing through them? If so is there any prepayment? So can one finance and then pay it of quickly to get the card? Denis

It takes about a full year to get almost all of the bugs out on a new MH. At least that is our experience with 3 new ones. deSanford
