2001 Diplomat Generator Maintenance
Hi,
I have a 2001 38' Diplomat I purchased a couple of years ago. I have very much enjoyed it, and am looking forward to getting it out of winter storage and using it again this summer. This is my 1st RV and I have been doing all the maintenance myself on it, learning as I go, but enjoying it non the less. I am going to change the oil & filter on my generator this spring, but wondered what other preventative maintenance work I should do ? I have read other threads on here about brushes and belts, but don't know anything about these. I didn't know it had a belt, and haven't seen one, but I guess it does. It has been running good, no real issues. I did run it out of fuel once and it was really hard to get re-started. After that it always seems like it turns over a few more times now that it used to, but I may just be paying attention to it more now, I'm not sure. I've also had a couple times where it smoked allot, especially on start up, but I think I've attributed that to dirty fuel. It would smoke every time I started it, then once I got new fuel it stopped. I travel across the country, and would like to prevent any break downs on the road that I can, so any suggestions on good regular maintenance tips, spare parts to carry ect would be much appreciated
Thanks
Michael
