2001 diplomat headlight assembly

I'm looking to change my headlight assemblies. The current ones are getting yellow and not good at night.
I just received new ones with some kind of snap in attachments.
Has anyone changed these assemblies that can give me an idea how to do it
Thanks
Rick

Headlights

Check into "The Monacoers" on Yahoo forums. They are an unusual bunch to register with but once you do they have links to almost every part. I had a 2002 Diplomat and I believe the headlight assemblies came off a Lincoln automobile part list. I don't know the year or model. A ford dealer might be able to help with a look at the part numbers. I know the taillights were off mid 80s Chevy blazer/pickups.

I bought the new ones on EBay. I'm just not sure how to get the old ones out. I'm seeing if someone has done this on an 01 diplomat.
I believe they are the Lincoln head light.
Thanks
Rick

Do you mind sharing what the assembly's set you back? I have a 2001 Endeavor and assume we have the same ones - mine are also very yellowish and project very pool light. I actually purchased a headlight restoration kit and tried to sand/buff them clean but it really didn't improve them much.

On a separate note, my fog lamps were burnt out and I found an exact replacement pair online (mounts and everything) for $10 each, $20 for the pair. Unbelievable deal and they work wonderfully.

p.s. Diplomat Don has unknowingly inspired me to now call myself Holiday Ramblin' Rob :-). Just wish I had his knowledge and skills.

I bought mine on eBay. They were $120 shipped. I didn't think that was to bad. They look identical to the ones I have. I think they came off a mid 80 Lincoln. Now I understand from Rex is a job replacing them. I'm going to look at it on detail tomorrow and see how to do it.

Thanks and best of luck to you on the install. $120 is not a bad price at all when you consider that good lighting is critical at night...

I would imagine that toilet paper companies could raise their prices and we would all probably end up paying whatever it was ;-)

Rick, I changed my headlight and running lights 2 years ago on my 2001 Diplomat. My headlights were made for a late 80 early 90's ford pickup. I removed my generator door to get better physical access to remove the screws that hold the metal shells that the headlights are mounted in. My headlights were held in by 4 square drive metal screws that Monaco used everywhere else. The passenger side is not to difficult but the drivers side almost brought me too tears. This was due to the wiring and other things that in the way. I have some pictures but I don't know if they would be any help. Good luck, George 2001 Diplomat

Hi George

Thank you for your reply. I will try to remove one light today to see how everything mounts. I can see how removing the generator door would help. I do have an angled square screwdriver. I'm
Hoping that helps.
Thank you for your reply
Rick
