2003 Holiday Rambler Imperial
Does anyone here own an Imperial with exhaust brake and engine brake?
I have exhaust brake switch and a hi/lo switch on my coach. The exhaust brake works but cant seem to get the engine brake to function. I can't find a on/off switch for the engine brake, just hi/lo switch.

Are you sure of both? It's likely you have an engine brake with a hi/low switch.

Eddie, if you have a high/low switch and an On/Off you have a compression brake. To be sure snap a photo of the engine from behind and post it on this thread.
What is happening that makes you think something is wrong?

This coach has both. It has an exhaust brake, I use it regularly. I also have a hi/lo switch but cannot find an on and off switch for it. I have flipped the switch from hi to lo and has no effect when stopping. I have pulled the cover to make sure it had wires to the switch and it does. Just wondering what the problem with the engine brake may be.
I have been told it is unusual to have both. Here is the brochure for the coach and it says it comes with an engine brake.

Eddie, as far as I know the Exhaust brake is standard and the Compression brake is an option, but you cant have both. That is how our 02 Imperial is.

I have the same coach as you. Hi/low switch and beside it an " exhaust brake" switch .......that turns on the brake. Then hi or lo depending on desired deceleration wanted

Thanks BG! I never tried switching the hi/lo with exhaust switch turned on. I will give this a try.

same here. On/off puts it on standby, High/low depending on how many cylinders you want working to slow you down. High is 6 low is 3.

Thanks you guys, I guess both exhaust and hi/lo switch confused me on what I had. Works well but just need to try the hi/lo when I have the exhaust switch is turned on.

Let me know if you notice much of a difference. Mine and another coach I rode in there was very little if any noticeable difference.
