2003 Monaco Camelot water system

Bought an '03 Camelot several weeks ago and a real pleasure to drive. Beautiful condition but frustrating challenges to sort out. I bought from a dealer and the former owners were apparently older (than me, and I ain't young) and the coach had been stored for a while. The water system is a problem. Connected to city water I get very low or no flow in the house with either the pump or direct pressure flow. I've replaced the hose on the reel and the filter, read the owners manuals thoroughly, etc. There are no leaks I can find. It's almost like there is a valve that is 90% closed somewhere, but I can't find it. Yes, I've looked under sinks, the water heater by-pass is OK, etc. In a previously owned Bounder, there were some valves hidden behind a panel in the basement and I've looked for those with no luck. Any ideas? Please DON'T tell me where valves are in your Bounder, American, Itasca, etc. We've owned big boats, towables, and a class A - it's this one that has me confounded.

Just a thought, in our '07 there is a valve down by the water pump that shuts off the water flow from the water tank so we can suck in antifreeze to winterize the water lines. If that valve is close or almost closed it could restrict the fresh water flow?

If I understand your post correctly, this only happens when you're connected to city water? If you're not connected to city and turn your pump on, do you get adequate pressure?

X2 for the valve for winterizing.

You said you replaced the water filter...don't you have two in line on the wall by the water pump? That was my 01 Dynastys restriction point. New filters from Lowes and got great water flow. But I have AquaHot and so Mine my be set up quite different from you. Can you post a pic of your water bay?

On our 03 Camelot, there is a water filter under the sink and on it is a shut off valve. Check that valve and replace the filter. Mine also has a bypass plate that goes in place of the filter for winterizing.
All of the water on mine goes to the filter first, then it goes to everything else.
I'll try to get to the coach later and take a photo.

Good ideas and I really appreciate it. I had removed the diverter and added a new filter under the sink and replaced the strainer at the pump. If I add water from the gravity fill, I can get water to pump just fine. I can't fill the tank or get local water from the city water system. I believe that it is the valve that switches between the local and tank fill and that it is stuck broken between the two positions. It's a big brass valve in a plastic box (Swan) that is really tough to remove - I've been wrestling with it for an hour now and it appears that I'm going to have to remove the white plastic shield. The guy who designed these compartments to look pretty instead of being serviceable should be slapped around.

If the pump works with water in tank, I think you are on the right track with the 3 way valve. I've looked at that and thought it would be a bear to get at!

I have an 06 Windsor which is similar. I have to take the white shield out to get to that valve you're talking about.

I might not be real smart but I'm smart enough to know when to give up and take the coach to a repair person. I've got an appointment at CW next week. Two hours of driving and probably overpriced but I've tried the local guys - also overpriced and know only a little more than I do. Thanks, Guys.

I seem to remember that a 5er I once owned had a built-in water pressure regulator behind the fresh water inlet. I had a similar problem and had to replace it one time. Don't know if MH's have those or not.

My 2005 CC Inspire had the same setup and also the same systems. I googled the number on the front and changed it out which solved the low flow.

I continued to wonder how could that big, brass valve possibly seize or break internally. After reading the comments by MSHappycampers and others, I searched for a pressure regulating valve. In the owners manual, it's clear where it is on units without the optional hose reel, but mine has the hose reel, which I consider a POA, and there is no mention of a PRV. I managed to disconnect the PEX from the hose reel and attach it to a hose and, Guess What, the water system works fine. The problem is in the hose reel or a PRV inside the reel. I cancelled the appointment and will remove the white plastic shield to get inside and take a look at the reel system. Thanks, Guys - I'll let you know what I find.

Mike,

When I first got my coach back in '07, the hose on the hose reel was pinched right where the hose connects to the reel. Wasn't very obvious. I shortened the hose about 3-4" where the pinched off and seemed to help the water flow.
