We are new fulltimers and are on the hunt for a 40 foot diesel pusher.

We currently have a small gas motorhome that is too small.

We found a great 2003 Monaco Windsor BPD. It's 40 foot with a 370 Cummings engine on a Roadmaster chassis.

Can anybody give me any tips, pointers, or warnings on this coach.

Anybody there have this same coach? Likes/dislikes/ issues?

We really like this coach and unless we find out something horrible about it, we will probably buy it.

Thanks in advance!

I tried to find a BPD floor plan...but couldn't. Anyway, my point is: If you're going to go full time, purchase a bath-and-a-half model.

The coaches Monaco built during that time frame were generally well built with few issues. The R4R chassis was their big mistake and the '03 Windsor is on the RR8S which is a strong and stable chassis.

An 8 year old coach can be a great valve and very reliable fulltimer coach but it all depends on the service it has received. If the current owner has service records you should go over them in great detail. If the tires are original then they should be replaced now. Here are a few of the major items:

1. Engine oil & filter. roughly annually
2. Fuel filter(s). Most likely 2 (always carry a spare set)
3. Coolant filter if equipped & DCA checked at least annually. (very important) Coolant changed every 3-4 years.
4. Air dryer service. Generally every 2-3 years.
5. Allison transmission. If Transynd, filters every 3 years & fluid every 4 years.
6. Front wheel bearings. At least every 30k miles or 3-4 years.
7. If Aqua Hot should be serviced annually.
8. Generator service annually or every 150-250 hours depending on model.
9. If original batteries they are near end of life.

And to add to Steve's list, replace the shocks with Koni shocks. Monaco used Monroe shocks and they are most likely at the end of their life and there are 8 on a two axle Windsor and Koni's cost around $140 each but are more than worth it in the ride they deliver.

That unit has two slides. That would be a minimum for me. I have 4 slides and love the room. Don't get buried by folks yea and nay stuff. It is an excellent coach and has enough power to take you anywhere. Don't get hung up on anal maintenance stuff. If it was taken care of and you continue to take care of it you will love it.

Not real sure what model you are referring to but I can tell you that is will serve you well if you have maintenance history on it and can tell from the records what you are buying. I did not and so I spend the money to get things updated anyway, that's the way I am. Best of luck, you will enjoy the coach.

We have that model Monaco Windsor and really enjoy it. We have had some minor problems, but then who doesn't? If you like it, buy it!

My DW and I have a 2002 Windsor PST. It serves us well. Although this is not "horrible", you will likely have less than happy thoughts occasionally about those swing up storage bay doors.

For those wondering, there is no BPD model, it was a typo by the OP.

The correct model he is referring to is PBD. Two roadside slides.

I preferred the extra third slide, obviously, since I purchased the PBT. It gave us just a little more extra room maneuvering around inside. With any slides, accessing the storage bays outside are more difficult but I don't live in the storage bays. More slides, more weight.

If you like the floor-plan and everything else, go for it.
