2003 Monaco Windsor Temp and Oil Pressure
We have a new to us 2003 Monaco Windsor 40 PST with the Cummins 350. Wondering what other owners are seeing their temps and oil pressures run at this time of year. Trying to get a feel for what normal baseline is for this unit. Also wondering what average mpg you get. TIA

Oil temp will depend on idle speed and even to some degree the age of the oil itself (viscosity increases as additives begin to deplete). But, after my ISC is warm, at 600rpm idle, its just a little above 15psi I would say. At 1500rpm at 60 its got 60psi. And when you first bust it off it goes to 90 and stays there for about 2 mins at least.
As far as temp goes you really want to keep a pre 2005 motor in the 185-190 degree range. If it gets near 200 you dont have much margin for heat from hills.

I've got a 2002 Windsor with 350 HP 8.3 ISC.
After engine gets to operating temps my oil pressure will be ~59 psi on the highway, it will drop to ~20 psi when we get off hwy at a stop sign etc.
Engine temps are 180F unless climbing hills, may go to ~190F but quickly drops back to the ~180F range.
I average 8.1 mpg over a long trip pulling a Jeep GC.
I have a Silverleaf system which provides very accurate info, I don't rely on the dash gauges at all anymore.

Sounds right where I am at on temp and oil. Haven't taken a trip for mph yet. I did find when servicing and inspecting that my radiator overflow cap is missing...not sure if it vibrated off or was left off by previous owner. Do you know what psi I need to order? My temp was right at 199-195 last night on a short run to clean tanks and too off fuel and I thought that was just a little high...wondering if that missing cap could be contributing to a slightly warmer temp range even though it's still a safe temp...

You will find that the gauges in our Monaco coaches are mostly inaccurate or at least the two Monaco coaches I have owned , I depend on Silverleaf program reading the correct info from the engine and transmission displayed on a laptop for my information and I am able to set my alarms at the temp or pressure I want. One of our main problems is a crappy ground on the gauges I don't think I have but one gauge that reads the correct or close to accurate.
Ben using the Silverleaf VMSpc system since about 01 .

I can't get to mine until later but I would not go more than a 13 psi cap. The benefits for higher pressure (raised boiling point), really don't translate to a diesel engine as you dont want them 205+ anyway. Not to mention the plastic overflow tanks probably wont take it. But, I doubt they will ever get that high.

I have a 03 Windsor PST with an ISL engine which
I believe to be about the same as an ISC
I am running a 7 lb cap because of the high failure rate
of the plastic tank .
My temp stays in the 180 to 185 range except for long
steep grades where I've seen mid to upper 190s
These readings are from my trip tec which is a poor man
Aladdin but I believe it is reasonably accurate .
BTW where are you obtaining your readings ?
If you are using the dash gauges they may not be very accurate

Agree, I believe I've got a 7psi cap. I had to replace my tank ~3 years ago after limping along on a repaired tank for a couple years. The newer tank is made of a different material so I shouldn't have any more problems.

Appreciate all the info and definitely realizing the Trend of the gushes not being accurate. I was using dash gauges as we've only had the rig about two weeks and I haven't started any modifications. But will keep that in mind and plan to upgrade to a monitoring system ASAP!

Are you sure you don't have a Trip tec or some system
installed ?
Mine displays on my rear view screen with camera view
in the back ground .
It stays on a minute or so then goes away until I push
the button again .
There is a small maybe 3" sq controller panel beside
the rear view screen .
Not sure about other systems .

Can you please tell me where you purchased the replacement tank?
Heard of an Aluminum replacement but a bit pricey and I'm not sure if it's necessary?
Any information is appreciated!
