2004 Windsor PDQ with Cummins isl engine, pac or Jake brake

My new to me Windsor was advertised as having a Jake brake. I confirmed or so I thought by checking against the 2004 Windsor brochure online which states it came with an engine compression brake. The previous owner just sent all the owners manuals to me, Coach is far away, and the owners manual states it has a PAC exhaust brake. So which is accurate? So much to learn.

See if previous owner has a copy of the data card or build sheet. On mine it lists what type of brake with PN/SN

They came both ways. You'll need to find paperwork or be at the coach to know for sure.

Unfortunately many owners, dealers or sellers use the terms PAC or JAKE interchangeable, not because of being dishonest, usually from lack of knowledge. Kinda like saying 'Kleenex"

My 2004 Windsor has the Engine compression brake (2 stage) and works very well on the grades.
Have heard they are more desirable than the Exhaust brake.
Hope you find your jewel!

Jake brake has practically become synonymous with engine compression brake
but Jake comes from the Jacobs company that makes both compression and exhaust

brakes .
So people can claim they have a Jake brake and not have a compression brake

A compression brake is far superior to an exhaust brake , I wish that I had one
but they are scarce in Windsors on down .
