Hi,

Does anyone own one of these...or have any experience with them?

It is a 40' DST - Diesel.

We're going to look at one, but it's about 8 hours from where we live...and don't want to go if they're not a good motor home.

Thanks
Barbara

The MH itself is good. Only problem, and this is with all brands with this motor, if it has the C-7 Cat motor it has has a few problems. You can do a search on this motor and read the problem. I run a Cat so I do like Cat motors as a whole.

I have a 38PDQ and love it. Highly recommend one if it has been taken care of. Also make sure, or make allowance in price, that it has the upgraded rear trailing arms (about $3000). There is a long thread on this site about the trailing arm problem.

I have an 05 Cheetah 36 pdd and have put about 16k miles on it.
It has been a great coach and is a pleasure to drive.
New trailing arms are important (huge safety issue).
I replaced the factory tvs. with LCD flat panels.
Replaced the factory hide-a-bed with a jackknife sofa.
Plenty of little fix items but I enjoy that part.
Very few complaints.

I have a 2005 Cheetah 38PDQ and we like it. Ditto on the trailing arms. Have not had a problem with the Cat Diesel, there have been a few that have had a problem with the fan bearings (non-greasable), but it is sporadic and not the norm. On a 2005, it will need some work, if not already done, like new tires (age if not mileage), trans fluid change, valve lash adjustment, etc. Normally you can count on about $5-7 grand worth of replacments and needed maintenance on a 7 year old DP.
