2006 Executive Cruise Control

We have a 2006 Monaco Executive and the cruise control has never worked. I have tried everything that was suggested by this forum and others, nothing! My windshield wipers were acting a bit strange so I took it to Alliance Coach, (now Lazy Days at the Villages) They changed out the Clock Spring as I had already changed out the VIP Module. No Cruise!! The hooked it up to the computer and it says I need a new brake sensor. I couldn't wait for them to find the part so they gave me the part #.NASSON NC NO SM-2B-85R. This seems to be a common occurrence so I'm hoping someone has a source for this.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Jim & Kathy,
It is my understanding that those air switches are NC, did they put a continuity tester on them to see if they are?

I forgot to mention, there are 2 of those switches and their function is to disconnect the cruise when the brakes are applied. When the brakes are applied they become NO & disconnect the cruise.

That switch is available (you have to spell the name correctly though. One "s", then Google it).

Mike, you said you replaced the VIM. Was it the VIM or the Smartwheel module you replaced? The Smartwheel controller is a highly potential suspect, in my opinion, particularly since you mentioned some windshield wiper issues. The clock spring affects everything on the steering wheel, equally. It is just a two conductor data path from the steering wheel "heading" towards the Smartwheel module. If one or more functions work reliably, the clockspring is likely ok.

I don't think I'd run out and get a new Smartwheel module just yet, but it would be worth looking into it. If you don't have the Smartwheel PDF troubleshooting manual, it is available on line. Try this link, and I think it will get it for you.

Hi guys, I apologize for my 2 posts above, I didn't realize that there was an additional air switch for the parking brake. I also have a problem with my cruise & possibly linked to this switch. I am also looking for a source.
