2006 Knight 38PDQ LEAK :-( on ledge by door

My number one fear of buying a coach has been realized.

I have some wet carpet beside the handrail, On the ledge to the left of the door.

Can't see any signs of infiltration but there is always water in the door sill.

Thanks for any insight.

I had damp carpet at the same area. Took the plastic cover off between the door frame and windshield. Found the gasket leaking. Called a experienced RV windshield vendor and he resealed the windshield.

I also has a small line of water coming from the top of the windshield gasket on the inside of the glass.

Thanks. That was my first suspicion since the edge of the seal is rolled in one spot. Also noticed tonight while it was raining that quite a bit of water is coming behind / through the awning housing over the door - I assume that this is incorrect?

Kind of hard to see, but this is with the awning extended and you cam see the stream coming through just beside the seam cover on the wall

I would look at where that doe awning is mounted to the coach. It should not have water flowing down between the awning and the side of the rig like that. Water could be getting into the wall where it is mounted and then soaking that carpet....

Yeah, not sure how to address that yet. That piece of trim (seam cover) runs behind the awning box and not sure how it's supposed to seal. I thought about running some gutter over it.

Found the leak.

The trim that covers the seam between the nose cap and body was cut just above and below the awning (is this normal? The awning looks to be a replacement) and rain blowing in from the front was going in.

I am going to take the awning off and silicone everything.

Glad you found the problem... Sounds like you have a good plan to fix it.
