You do realise that the pump is timed to the camshaft, just like a gas engine distributor.

That and they almost never go bad. If the stop solenoid is actually doing it's job, it should at least run.

I have to prime my generator for a full minuet sometimes if it sits for a while. 10 seconds doesn't seem long enough to prime,

Mine went to Cummins after doing all the stuff you have tried. They said rotor or stator, ordered both. When the tech started tearing it down I said change the brushes while it's apart. 3,000 hours on unit, but it had been intermittent for a while.


One brush was cracked clear through...so it would run fine if pieces matched, sometimes for long periods, and sometimes would not even start....arrrrghhhh!!


Anyway $13 parts and it was fixed!! The controller ($$$) has to sense a/c power being generated very quickly or it shuts down.

Should have the pump back from the shop tomorrow. Will let you know if I am happy or not

The pump came back from the shop Monday. Reinstalled the pump and now started and runs like it did before.
