2007 Monaco Dynasty shocks
We have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty Emperor IV with about 40k miles. Took me a year to get everything baselined and operating correctly. Except for a couple of new air bags, air manifold, satellite, etc, the rest were minor issues. I believe the shocks are original so we want to replace them before our annual 2-3 month fall trip through the western states. I tried several sites to find the part numbers for a complete set of Bilsteins. Monaco uses their own part numbers and said the front and rear shocks were different shock numbers but didn't even know how many were required. Several sites listed the same part number for all the shocks, Bilstein 24-187312 front and rear and one said same for tag axle. Prices varied from $165 each to $80 (Walmart online). My owners manual does not address shock numbers, location, or part numbers. Hard to believe it takes some much research to find correct part numbers for something as simple as shocks. My coach is going in for annual inspection and service in July so I wanted to get the shocks before then. Looking for someone who can get me going in the correct direction. Don't want to spend the money for Koni's or Source modified Bilsteins. You all drive safe and enjoy the ride. Thanks. Joe & Lynda

We replaced our shocks with just regular Bilsteins. To be honest I don't even remember how we came across the right part numbers but I remember it was a PITA. Ours also had the regular Monroe original shocks. It was not a dramatic increase to the ride quality but it was definitely noticeable. Best of luck to ya.

on my 2008 rr8s contessa i used the bilstein 24-186605 front and 24-186612 rear. as you have the tag axle, this may be completely irrevelant

Having put 88K miles on my 04 Dynasty I never felt any difference from new...always handled well. With the tag axle proposing (about the only way to tell if you need shocks) is non existent. Why do you think you need new shocks?

We are considering changing shock mostly due to age of shocks (10-11 yrs old) and mileage (40k) on coach. Coach does ride fairly smooth but does porpoise going over dips etc.

I changed out the rear shocks on our coach.
For anyone else replacing shocks on an RR10S Roadmaster chassis, it uses Bilstein part number 24-187312, 10 each, (4 on front axle, 4 on drive axle, and 2 on tag axle). Bilstein uses the same shock front and rear.
These are the new Comfort Valve versions with some design changes from the original.
I found them on Amazon for $80.20 each.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just a side note, Koni uses a different shock from front to back. Koni's are double the cost of Bilstein, but the Spartan chassis owners are raving about the smooth ride from Koni's.
The rest of the story is one of our Monaco owners tested several different brand shocks including a test drive with no shocks and reported the smoothest ride from inexpensive Monroe shocks.
I can also tell you that the ride difference between 1 broken shock and several worn rear shocks is almost no different with new schocks.
Post # 23 has shock info. Post #26 has detailed instructions for changing the rear shocks.
