2008 Monaco Camelot 42PDQ Tag Axle Wheel Seal Number?

Does anyone know what the wheel seal number is for the tag axle on a 2008 Camelot 42PDQ? Ours is leaking on the drivers side. I have someone who can jack it up and fix it but just need to know what the seal number is so I can get it ready for him. And then...I also noticed it's leaked onto the brake shoes..so I'm assuming those need to be replaced, too? And of course the axle seal and 85w gear oil. What else would need to be done? Would it be a good time or should I fit the hub with an oil bath cap? The other wheels look good but should those be done too? And I noticed a little moisture around one of the leveling valves..looks like it has been collecting dust for awhile...looks greasy

If it were me I would do both sides seals and brakes. Most of the time when those seals leak they ruin the brake linings. It also makes stopping more difficult.

Yup that's what I'll do when I can find the part numbers? Called Dana..the tag axle part of Dana was sold off to Hendrickson...called them but they said seals are obsolete and sent me to their trailer division as they still sell that part but not sure what it is now. And she wouldn't give me a part number? So I called the trailer division and they were out to lunch so I left a VM. Waiting for call back.
I don't want to take the wheel of and seal only to find out I have to order from some place and it will take days not minutes to get. The guy fixing it is driving an hour and half to work on it. Would like it done at same time. The shoes (kit) are a 16.5 x 7 (their part # R-009703-20H) which I got a part number for and am trying cross that over to something less expensive

My coach's build sheet says the Tag axle is a Dana D22AU... this may be the same for yours. Axle provided by Hendrickson

If yours is the same, there are specs on page 14 of the pdf below that may help you find the seals you're looking for. The seal number is not provided but the bearings part numbers are, which may help finding the seal. If not, once you disassemble and get the seal number, post back so we will all know.

I kinda ran into the same problem with my front seals. I was going to order the seals so that when I repacked the front wheel bearings I could just do it all at one time. I looked on the internet till my head hurt. I ended up pulling it apart and just using the number off the old seal which I had to order anyways.

So here is what I finally got back from Hendrickson:

The seal installed on D22AU601A134-1 (Axle number on tag on axle) depends on when the axle was built. The “history” was as follows:

• Dana P/N 128859 = Freudenberg NOK Outrunner (proprietary to Dana) – 04/13/04 to 05/10/07
• [H] P/N A-29472 = Chicago Rawhide #46305 – 05/11/07 to 02/02/09
• [H] P/N A-25540 = Stemco Voyager #373-0143 – 02/03/09 to present

Part Number

R-009703-20HX REPLACEMENT 1670 BRAKE 1.0 EA
KIT 20K H20167XF, HXS

Subcomponents

R-009307 PIN - ANCHOR 2.0 EA

R-B-20693 RETAINING SPRING 2.0 EA
16.5" BRAKES

R-B-32022 RETURNING SPRING 1.0 EA
16.5" BRAKES, HEAVY DUTY

C-22730-20 16.5x7 EXT 20K CAPACITY 2.0 EA (SOLD ONLY IN KIT)
H20167XF, HXS

R-0015390-04 HUB SEAL FOR OIL OR GREASE. 'N' SPINDLE APPLICATION

I just got confirmation. This seal will work for this application.

Hendrickson # R-015390-04 HUB SEAL 'N' (16-25K) FEDERAL MOGUL M380025TX0 which crosses to this seal S-27267-HN

It looks like I have the axle with the "proprietary" wheel seal - my coach is a 2005. I'll bet that will be hard to find, if I ever need one.

So is there anyway to raise the tag axle to take the tire off if the guy doesn't have a jack to jack it up? It's a time when I wish I had leveling jacks and not just air bags

The tag axle uses a chain on each side to lift. You can shorten the chain to get Axle off the ground, but that means getting under the coach.

If you have hydraulic leveling, you can try that to see if there is enough jack extension to lift the tires off the ground. If you do that be sure to put a jack stand under the axle when the tire is removed in case jack leaks/blows.

The easiest way is to drive the coach (the drive wheels) up on blocks which leaves the Tag axle hanging. I screwed some 2x12 boards to plywood (sandwich) to get about 4 boards thick. That gives me plenty of room to get under coach when I need to and tag will hang free.
