2008 Monaco Diplomat?

We are looking at buying another DP. I found what appears to be a nice 2008 Diplomat. I've read and searched a lot of information and just want to make sure I don't make an avoidable mistake. We have a 40' DP on a 2001 Freightliner now.
Some of the Roadmaster chassis had issues, this has an RR8R chassis. It's a good one chassis isn't it? Is it subject to the wandering and bouncing some of the other chassis have?
I've read about the crank/wrist pin/rod issue and that concerns me a lot. I found the recall serial number range and will check it but it seems there have been several failures not in the list. Anyone experienced issues? The unit I'm looking at is nearing 50,000 miles.
Are there common issues I should be aware of?
Thanks for any help you can provide me.

No problem with the chassis out of the wrist pin problem. It is the first year of the dpf had to replace mine at 27000 no problem since. Great coach

We have a 2008 40PDQ. We have had it for a little less than a year. Ours drives great, every time I drive it it amazes me with how easy it is to drive and how good it handles.

I doubt you will be in the wrist pin group. I have a 2006 Diplomat and mine is in the serial number group, but knock in wood havenít had any problems and I now have 57,000 miles on the coach. Iíve heard if it was going to fail it would happen in the first 10,000 miles.

Might want to check if the shocks have ever been replaced. I have a 2008 Knight on theRR8R chassis just replaced the 8 shocks this year ( should have done sooner ) original shocks were completely shot at 41,000 miles . Made a great difference on the ride and handling I installed Bilsteins.

A 08 Monaco likely has a 06 engine (not in the recall #s) as Monaco bought a bunch of extra 06 engines. My 08 Navigator has a 06 engine...one of the reasons I bought it.

We went to look at the motorhome and the owner wouldn't let me remove the cover. It was windy but I said my wife and I would get the cover back on, then he said I wouldn't be allowed on the roof to inspect. I guess we will keep looking.

Good call! Either he doesn't really want to sell it, or he's hiding something.

Surely the owner just had safety concerns because of the wind .

A cover in the wind might be impossible or even dangerous maybe he
knew best .

Or was he a grumpy eccentric ole guy ?

If you left there on good terms and you are still interested you could touch
base with him in a few days to see if there is a better time to visit .
Diplomacy can work wonders sometime .

They are nice enough people but really didn't want me on the roof. He has my number I told him to call when he thought the weather was OK for me to come look at it properly. I think I've found 2 more to go look at but winter just arrived in the Midwest.
