2008 Monaco Knight SKQ

I have come across a 2008 Monaco Knight SKQ with 1952 miles on it,, was bought in 08 used once and has been sitting since. What do you think of some problems it might have. I saw it and it started right up and everything seemed to work fine

Welcome to irv2. It's about time to think of new tires to start with.

Other than tires, I think a general lube service with oil change and filter, fuel filters, and an air filter would be good insurance. The filters may be all right but I would be afraid after 6 years they might start to fall apart. Depending on where you are possibly adding fuel treatment in case of algae.

Batteries probably need to be replaced. Generator needs exercise. Could be a great buy. As suggested, fuel needs a good look. If that is the Cummins 400 ISL it probably need a very very hard run to get the temperatures up and a good regeneration to occur or a trip to a service center for a manual regeneration.

We have a 2008 HR Endeavor 40 SKQ. Should be nearly identical.

Retired Ron,
Probably an Cummins ISC not the ISL which is NOT a problem at all. Both a good engines and the ISC makes enough torque to move the coach in a satisfactory manner. I've owned both and would be happy with either. Grease, oil, filters fuel conditioner, decontaminate fresh water system etc. Check all systems especially Norcold or Dometic fridge for proper operation. Otherwise, go for it if the price is right.
Good Luck, it's a great coach. Oh, double check hydraulic pump for leaks (behind A/C grill on drivers side). It most likely has a unit manufactured by Lippert and they can be a problem from that year range.

Tires, batteries, contaminated fuel, disintegrated filters,
corrosion underneath, numerous systems sitting for
years, needs to be towed to a shop for a base line on
service points. Gosh, you would really have to love
the coach, and get a deal that would make it worth
your time to resolve all the unknowns and worse case
scenarios. You would need to negotiate a conditional
sales agreement covering all the issues, an engine and
tranny sitting for this many years could have so many problems.
I would insist on a deal for the coach fully serviced, repaired
and all systems in operational condition, with the costs for
getting her all ready factored into the final price. A lot of
aggravation ahead for you and the seller ! You would almost
have to partner up with the seller to make this work, not
an easy task.

Ron.
It's all about the price. If the price is right and you put $10/12K into tires, lube, oil change, batteries etc. you could have a great rig.
I'm sure the fuel is not any good. If it starts I'd take it yo a shop and have the fuel drained and all new filters.
Again it's all about the price and if it's worth your time to have a low mileage rig.
My 2001 diplomat 38 just turned 117K miles and we are heading out on a 8 month trip to the west coast. If these things are maintained. They just keep going.

Help...Hubby and I just purchased a 2008 Monaco Knight. Decided to clean frig. and when I dumped ice machine bin it had ice in it so know it was working. After cleaning everything I started up the frig. It's working fine but I can't get the ice machine to work. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions on how to fix it. Frig is a Dometic. Is there a right or wrong way to install the bin??
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

it could be a few different things; there is a bar that is over the ice tray that has to be in the down position for the ice maker to work. Also if you take the lower outside refrigerator access cover off, you will see a small oval silver valve that needs to be turned on for the water to flow to the ice maker. You should also check to see if both ac plugs are plugged in....there are two outlets. There is a second shut off valve in my unit,I'm not sure of yours, in the water bay that also must be turned on. Finally make sure you have water in the tank or have a direct hose hook up to the city water inlet. Happy trails.

Remember, if a older RV has very little miles on it, that usually means it's been lived in.
