2008 Monaco Monarch/info

Have a new to me Monarch, is it best to level with engine running or not, (book says engine off and key on, dash card says with engine running)? Should slide be out only on when on suspension (as it says in book) or after being leveled? Are slide out supports (have) really necessary or even advisable? Your comment/help appreciated, thank you, kp

Mine is on a workhorse chassis, and I always level with engine running and kill engine to extend slides.

Our 2009 says to put the slides out then level.
That does require an engine OFF..ON...OFF cycle on arrival
and an ON..OFF...ON cycle at departure.

We have leveled without the engine running, sometimes still on shore power.
In my opinion anytime the hydraulic pump motor operates with a higher battery voltage is better for it than with a lower voltage.
Ohms law lower current.

There is a low voltage alarm on our unit but does not inhibit the controls.

kp-

Our coach is the HR twin for the Monarch. The manual says (page 102) slides out while on suspension, then level. Per the above post, this means ignition off, slides out, ignition on, jacks out, ignition off.

The manual (page 111) also says to have ignition on, but the engine not started, to extend the jacks.

I have a 2003 Monarch, if we are at a campground (Normally Level) I have found that it really doesn,t matter what you do first, level or jack first. When we are out in the woods and way out of level (chassis in a bind/twist, we always level and then extend.
