My best guess is that the airbags collapse enough for a “pocket” to form between the airbag and the airbag plastic base when the MH is lowered. Maybe a sharp stone could somehow get trapped here and cause a puncture if the MH stays unused for a while?

There was no obvious cause for the leak, although you could see deterioration of the rubber surface.

Ben -- There is the skirt in front of the bag, but it`s sure not a solid shield -- This coach is a 07 & has experienced several 115+ degree summers -- Perhaps this has a bearing on the rubber to deteriorate --- Monaco probably didn`t use the best on the market air bags, like Monroe Shocks -- Bill Willard

Bill thought that he would investigate the cause of the suspension airbag leak, so he cut the leaking airbag open.





Here is a look at the inside of the airbag. Stress fractures are clearly visable where the punkture occured.
