I got to look at the 2010 Diplomat at Lazydays Tampa last week. Nice unit. The 2010 Endevour is scheduled to arrive this week. I was looking for an 09 Endevour. It drives like a dream with the new taller side wall tires. It was a PDQ with a fireplace which provided heat and a romantic enviornment.

We took a ride in that same Tag Diplomat this week. It had a much better ride than our single axle Diplomat even after the Koni shooks. And there was no comparison in the handling department. You could travel 70 MPH down I-4 and turn loose of the steering wheel and it would track! Makes me want a tag now.

Ok doesnt anyone else think it is silly that it is barely 2009 and they are releasing 2010 models? Aside from that the pictures I have seen of the new tags sure are nice!! I have to admit we considered upgrading in the summer/fall to a tag and REALLY liked the Tiffin Phaeton 42QBH it has an extremly nice floorplan. We were torn though as we get great service from our Monaco dealer and are / were reluctant to change dealers.

Duramax,
Who called it a 2010?? Salesman at LazyDays??
Monaco says the following:::
"Introducing the exciting NEW 2009 Diplomat with smooth TAG Axle drivability" on their website and brochure.
Just curious where the 2010 comes from.

It was the factory rep at Lazydays. I can't remember his name. I lost his card. I think he is a sales rep, but he is most certainly from Monaco.

SACs,
We were there and actually took a test drive in the unit. Lazydays puts a sticker on every new and used unit on the lot that gives the year, model, etc. It clearly was marked as a 2010. There was also a sign on the windshield that referred to the unit as a 2010. This may have been Lazydays or it may have been the Monaco rep. I don't know. The last day we were there another unit came in and we looked at it before they removed the Styrofoam form the frig. I think it had just arrived when we saw it. I liked it better than the one with the fireplace.

A quick click on the LD website shows they have 3 of the 2010 Diplomats, all 42 footers.
I noticed this thread and thought it unusual because I had not heard of ANY coach OEM that was already showing 2010 models. The Monaco website only promotes 2009 products, so it will be interesting to learn what the word from Monaco is about these units LD says are 2010 models. One thing I've learned about the RV business is "never say never" and you "never" know what is gonna happen next. ED

LD site also lists a 2010 HR 42' Endeavor and a 2010 Country Coach Magna Motorhome. Would be interested to see how the VIN#'s read.

Monaco (and I believe others) have a stagering schedule for releasing their new model year coaches. The 2007 Dynasty I had was built in Jan 06, and my '08 Signature was built in Dec, 07. Matter of fact I was told that the '09 Sigs would start coming down the line in March,'08 (I think that's right). RV companies and car companies don't seem to be on the same schedule for releasing their new models.

It's all marketing BS. They introduce sometime past the traditional new model year date and they say it's the next model year. BMW missed their launch date for the diesel X5 and the marketing "genius's" badged it as a 2010. Everything the same as the 2009 except the price tag. When they told us there was an additional premium over and above the diesel engine we told them to pound sand and buy a Lexus.

If done by Monaco, this may be a way of differentiating the 2009 SKQ floorplan from the new floorplan for internal reasons. Because then you have two totally different configurations of chassis for the same exact model (Endeavor SKQ)...Even though I like the advantages a tag can offer, my 41 ft SKQ definitely is enough for me and getting it in and out of my driveway.

Reasons for bringing out a new model year early are not all the time a marketing ploy, as I remember manufacturers have a certain amount of allotments of production allocated by weights and also CAFÉ standards. So if they exceed there numbers for given model year they will be fined. So to skirt these issues they sometimes introduce a model year early.
