Boilermaker and Steve O, does your boost gauge get really "happy" when the engine is under load? I only have as a reference point the gauge on my Dynasty (330 Cummins) which seldom reached 20psi. The gauge on the 500 pegs every time the engine starts pulling. I kinda think the 30-plus psi indicated is about 10-12 optimistic. (Or should that be pessimistic Mr_D? )

I monitor the Aladdin display which gets its engine/transmission data from the engine ECM. at 62 on level ground with a neutral throttle position, the boost will be 5-7. As the load increases the boost will quickly go above 20. The ISM peaks at 32-33 pounds of boost. As the boost passes 8-10 the MPG passes it going the other way.

I think your boost gauge is accurate. I didn't think my gauge on my M11 was correct until I plumbed a gauge directly to the intake manifold. The dash and the direct plumbed gauge matched perfectly. No more doubting it,,

Mine doesn't peg unless it is pulling a steep grade. The boost goes up but then it rarely downshifts.

We just completed this year's trip...a tad over 11,000 miles up and over the Rockies and back through Idaho to the coast and down. We logged a low of 6.4 mpg going from Glenwood Springs to Denver and 7.8-8.4 along the coast. We did drop to 4th going thru the Eisenhower Tunnel but usually no lower than 5th....The ISM is a great engine....glad you found a great coach...Dennis
