92 Sig Engine compartment cooling fan?

I was under the coach last night checking things out and right behind the drivers side rear wheel I found a blower motor with a large flexible gray line that runs up into the engine compartment. It looks like a big old bilge blower and I am sure it was designed to take heat out of the engine compartment.

My question is...what turns this fan on? I never heard it run and I do not remember finding a switch for it. The fan motor is frozen up but it looks like a dash blower motor that I am sure I can match it up at a parts store. Locating it just behind the mud flap made no sense as tire debris and moisture slinging up from the wheel right on it can only lead to an early demise. Perhaps an in line blower mounted higher up would be better.

Unknown things

I don't have an answer for your specific question. What you have experienced seems to be common when one acquires a previously owned coach. I have found several cut wires, untraceable connections, or other owner modifications that are puzzling. I have come to the conclusion that some things will just remain unknown. If the coach seems to be running well, no need to have all the answers.

Dan that sounds like something that was added, can't see any reason for the fan. If the engine is running hot then the radiator and CAC need cleaning. The early 90 Monaco did have a condensor and fan but I think it was on the passenger side and they stuck it in front of the CAC and radiator, a big mistake!

I will try to get a picture of it today. This sure looks factory to me but you never know. It just looks like something to cool the bed maybe

Yes, some had the fan you're referring to. Our 96 Signature 45 has it. It's factory, but like yours, it's never worked since we've owned it. It's not for engine cooling, it's to cool off the engine compartment (and the rear bed!) after you park.

That is what I thought as well. One thing (extra advantage) about a side radiator is the back and top of the engine are open to the rear louvers so the engine area cools pretty quickly. I think fixing this is pretty far down on the bucket list
