‘95 Dynasty storage bay won’t unlock

what I found when I got the bay open was the previous owner had ground down the striker plate to try to accommodate the reduced pull due to sloppy / loose linkage. (i’ll be going through each of my other bay doors to confirm that they are pulling as they should, too.)

here are images of the striker plates and the washer on the linkage that connects to the latch bolt. (I’m using tapatalk to access the forum and can’t seem to load a video so took a screenshot of the opening of the pressure washer on the linkage so you can see it.)

(if anybody’s interested, I intend to clean up the entry cut into the interior plastic cover of the bay door and duct tape the removed piece back in place; since nobody else but me sees it, no big shake…)

here’s a pic of the inner door / locking mechanism. the styrofoam material appears to have been modified at time of mfg ... not my <cough> handiwork <cough>.
