A/C control question

Just another item regarding my (relatively new to me ) '98 Imperial 38WDS.

I can't figure out how to get BOTH, the front & rear, A/C units to run at the SAME TIME. I've checked the manual for the wall mounted climate control system and am stumped. Following all the instructions in the instruction manual merely switches the system from zone 1 to zone 2 or back to zone 1 or to fan, furnace, etc.

Anyone have a coach like this or have any thoughts on this system ??

Thanks

It will only show one zone on the display at one time. But whatever you left the other zone on before you switched is what it will do. Set one zone to Cool, the temp you want, and the fan speed you want. Then switch zones and do the same for the other. I hope that makes sense.

Not sure about which is your control, can you post a pic ?

on ours, we switch zones, set them temp and mode (usually Auto) for that one, then switch to next zone and do the same, then it takes care of itself to meet those settings.

I have two thermostats...one in front for the front and one in the rear of the coach for the rear.

Each of individual thermostat needs to be set to Zone 1 "cool" and the desired temp

Are you plugged into a 50amp service or your genny running?

Make Model & Year may differ but that is how it works on my coach a 2004 HR Navigator.

As others have said, you switch to one zone, set it for what you want, then switch to the other zone and set it.

I have the same MH and I presume you have a 4 button thermostat.

If you have a 4 button Dometic thermostat try this reset procedure:

1. Turn the ON/OFF switch to ON. The display light with data should come on.
2. Depress mode to activate display light.
3. Depress the bottom two buttons (up & down) together.
4. While still holding the two buttons add the third from the bottom (mode) , hold all three for a few seconds.
5. Release the third (mode) button.
6. Release the bottom two (up & down) together.
7. Depress the mode button. The display light should be off. If not, repeat steps 2 through 6.

Unfortunately, these units are no longer made and you have 2 options.

1. You can have the unit repair:
william hendrix - Home
Frerichs Electronics

2. You can replace it which also requires replacing the PC boards in the AC unit.

We had ours replaced with a new Dometic CCC2 unit. When we did, we had another problem. The thermostat is mounted on an outside wall and there is a small cavity behind the thermostat where the wires are run. The high temp in the wall meeting the cool air inside, created condensation on the thermostat's PC board which caused it to short out. To solve this I used low expansion spray foam in the wall and sheet foam on the back of the PC board. So far, everything is fine. If not I will have to relocate thermostat to an interior wall.
