A/C replacement issues - help requested

Hubby just replaced our front roof mounted A/C (ten years old) with a new Dometic. He confirmed and ordered through Camping World that this is the correct unit and is "plug and play." So he replaced the old with the new. All was well for the first couple of runs on the geni (can't hook up to shore power just now). ISSUE: the fan runs fine, but the compressor won't kick on and thus no cooling is happening. We did the hard restart on the thermostat (and received the good FF code...it's a newer thermostat). Can't be the breakers on the b/c the fan is running. Hubby thinks the unit is the issue or maybe it has something to do with the Zones. Any suggestions of things to double check before we head to Camping World tomorrow (Monday) morning?

Did you make sure the dip switches on the new AC are set the same way as the old one?

Depending on age you may need a different control board to compatible with the thermostat.

I've heard a "dip switch" as an insult before, but I assume you are talking about something else on the A/C unit? Can you elaborate?

What type of T-stat did you have? We had a 4 button and it is not compatiable with Penguin 2 a/c's. There is no board available to interface it. I had to buy a new T-stat. There is a board available if you had a 5-button T-stat.

We had to replace one of our 11 year old Dometic heats pump in May. Found out the the new Dometic AC/heat pumps only work with the 4 button thermostat. If you have the older 5 button thermostat, you MUST get a control board change for the 5 button to work correctly. Dometic makes the replacement boards. Make sure to have the DIP switches on the replacement board set the same as the old AC. The replacement board is part # 3313107.107 Conversion Kit..

Angie, from reading your OP, if the AC worked fine for the first few runs and now it does not. It could be the start capacitor in the new unit. Hope this helps.

George - yep, that's what we're thinking. Board is fine, Tstat is compatible after convos with Dometic and CW. So, we're now calling around trying to find a repair place that can fit us in sooner than "in two weeks."
