The tech's here at Corning Truck & RV discovered what caused the engine failure...prior to my buying it, the MH had an air pump failure, and the gear locked up...the air pump gear interacts with the cam gear..whala...(like the hip bone connected to the thigh bone )the cam gear was damaged, but never replaced. My guess whould be they patched it up, and traded it off...the tech's are confident that going forward it will not be an issue...since now, everything is new!
Frankly, I feel better at least knowing what caused the failure. They are also trying hard to get rid of me today!!!!

Congrats on figuring this one out! What a mess that was. The Corning thread got a little watered down, so I did not see if you were stuck with this bill, or if you had warranty/service plan/or similar on your side.

Are you on your way to Redmond now? I think there are a couple of spaces left out here to park

Bruce,
I'm happy for you that they were able to specifically identify the problem and its cause. I trust this is the end of your mechanical problems and your trip home, and future trips are "uneventful."

Happy, smooth, safe travels.

Kev:
Yes, we are stuck with the bill....the dealer, Paul Evert RV is trying to induce Cummins to help in some way, but that remains to be seen. No, we are going to head home, assuming when they get it running later today, all is well....What an ordeal!!!

Teofff,

Glad your trails are seeming to be soon over - except for writing the check. Hope all is well on the trip home. I know that, in addition to the engine problem, you must also be dissappointed that you missed the rally. I would be.

I bought an extended warranty, which includes the engine, but until you actually get into a situation like yours, even if you have an extended warranty policy, you always wonder how they are going to try to wiggle out of paying in the end. I'm sure that's why many people don't have them.

Ok...so I know you two should be hitting CHowchilla by now... just wanted to show you two what you missed by not stopping at MonacoMama's Cafe! BTW...Gloria...it is great on a bed of lettuce..and without the tortilla shell!

(I love to cook so it really is surprising to Sacs & me that we are not a 100 lbs overweight!)

MM & Sacs:
8:05...just pulled in...The Lakes is a brand new and very beautiful RV park...in fact, as nice as any we have ever stayed at. That is really mean spirited to show us the fabulous dinner we missed....it looks great. How about a rain check???? I told SACS, we should meet somewhere inbetween some long weekend that works for you....
BTW, the MH ran great all the way here and...I was really pleased with the service and the bill!!!

Hey....I thought you met my "evil twin" when you were here! I do have a "bad side" to me (ask Sacs...luckily - he doesn't complain!) ...sorry ...but they were mmMMMMmmmm Good!!!

I am sooo glad to hear that the coach ran great!! Make sure you take plenty of pics of that RV park ...and rate it! I am thinking that you need to stay for a few days...at least one more extra day...it isn't like you planned on being home by Friday originally...

Well, when the heartburn and gas kick in at 2A, he might have a thing or two to say
I will take some pics in the AM and post.
