A fix for broken passenger side window latch.

I purchased a 07 Diplomat a couple months ago. And one of the problems I encountered was the latches on the passenger side window were broken, which did not please the dear wife who tried several methods of propping the window open while traveling. The original latch manufacturer no longer makes the latches.
I found a metal latch at Shopyst. (found on the internet and they have a great website) Who sells Vision #2818 zinc window sash tilt latches. for 11.98 for 2.. They need a little modification as I will detail here but a a great compromise compared to a broken window.
First; the catch metal that slides in the slot to hold the window closed is twice the thickness for the slot in the window frame, but since it is solid metal it can be ground down or filed to half the thickness to fit the slot. Took me about 2 minutes per latch on the bench grinder.
Second; because it is a bigger latch you will need to get a #8 metal screw 3/4 inch long to secure the latch to the window frame. The 2 screw holes are further apart then the original latch, but the first hole closest to the outside edge is a perfect fit.. I did one latch with only 1 screwl leaving the second hole empty, and the second latch I drilled a new second hole in the window frame and let the screw thread itself into the hole..Both ways seem to be working great...
Third; they only come in white and beige colors so you will have to paint the latches brown to match the frame.
Fourth; I removed the arms from the original center lever so they wouldn't be dangling in the way( by cutting them with side cutter dike pliers) since they have no more purpose..
Now the window can be used as designed and the is locked and secure when we lock up the coach..and other than a useless knob in the center of the window everything still looks great.. Hope this helps others who have the same issue.. Doug.
