A little help with a Slideout Problem?
I have a 2004 Monaco Knight. The electric slideout in the bedroom has the following problem. It starts out just fine and then sounds like a gear is skipping. I give it a push and it continues out. It also requires one or two pushes at different spots to get it it. It think the system is made by Power Gear. Any help would be appreciated.

Lift the bed and remove the false floor toward the back of the enclosure, there may be 4-6 screws holding it down.
Check the entire structure of the slide mechanism and make sure none of the attachments are loose. Check the electric motor and make sure it is tight. Make sure no teeth are broken on the gears or rail.
Also, under the bed support toward the foot of the bed there are probably 2 rollers mounted under the bed that it rolls in and out of, make sure there is nothing binding there and nothing has gotten stuck under the bed.
The is somewhat normal is the gear mechanism is ~spring loaded and jumps when it reaches full extend or retract, ours does the same thing. We hold the button down and watch the slide and as soon as it starts bottoming out we release the button but we will still get a gear jumping action most of the time.

I did take a look under the bed and checked to make sure the motor was not loose. Problem is the RV is in San Diego and I am in NY. I was hoping to bring a few parts with me when I go there next week. I was thinking this may be the culprit?

My bedroom slide out experienced a similar problem. It would extend and retract and would pause for a second or two and then resume. I opened up the area under the bed and found that the pinion gear had lost a tooth. There are a number of replacement gears, but you must have the proper tooth count to order the right one. It's possible that Monaco service could have the proper number for the gear. I ordered the replacement great and installed it myself. It's a pretty simple repair. I was warned that if there was a binding issue with this slide, the gear would break again, but I couldn't find anything binding. It has been fine for a couple of years now.

That gear pack will not work for the bedroom slide -- That one is for the front slide -- The bedroom is completely different -- However, the gear from that pack MAY work, if you take it apart & use the gear only, but it`s very doubtful -- Bill Willard

I had the exact same problem on my 2004 Monaco bedroom slide. It's made by Power Gear and the gear on the drive shaft broke a tooth.
The repair place said there are a couple different gears and luckily they had my size in stock.
The other problem that occurs is the split pin, cotter pin, whatever you want to call it...will sometimes shear off.
As jacwjmes said it's under the bed and fairly easy to replace, especially if you have someone else do it.

Do you happen to know a part number or how many teeth that gear has? Thanks.

OK. No problem If anyone else has any idea of about how many teeth are on this gear, that would be great. I was hoping to order the parts before I head back to the RV.
