Recently I was in the Black and Decker store in Seaside Oregon and found a 18 volt battery operated scrubber with a rotating head.

Until recently, like many of you, I used a ladder, bucket and wool mitt - and a wool mitt on a pole. Of course this required a great deal of climbing.

The scrubber battery will last for more time then is needed to really clean my Ambassador, including the roof - and I only had to climb the ladder once (to get on the roof).

The scrubber heads - there are two - are soft enough for the full body paint, and the 2 extensions are long enough that I can clean all of the windshield while standing on the ground.

I highly recommend it.

At approx. $100, it would be money well spent if it cleaned bugs off of the windshield.

Has anyone tried bug cleaning?

I would be leary of using that scrubber on full body paint. After bug and tree sap stains the paint mfrs. will tell you that car wash brushes are next on the list for things that can permanently damage your paint. I dont know how soft it is but that thing swirling around on my paint will not happen.

I was concerned about that too, prior to seeing how soft the brush bristles are. They are no worse then a wool mitt.

After reading this thread, ordered new one from B&D outlet store in Pigeon Forge. Cost was $79.95 new, or $59.95 for reconditioned. Used it Sunday to wash our fiver, works great!

Found out about this from the RV.Net forum and ordered one from the Wal-Mart website. Just picked it up today from my local WM store. Can't wait to use it.

Let me know when they come up with a hands off model. They have robot vaccum cleaners, lawnmowers and pool cleaners; it won't be long befor you will see these for cleaning vehicles too!

I totally agree. All it takes is a tiny bit of road sand/grit getting stuck in the brush to scratch up an expensive paint scheme.
