My '09 Camelot has a white plastic panel in the wet bay area. This covers a bunch of water lines, electrical connections, and hides the holding tanks from view. I'd like to replace the current sensors with See Level sensors; I've done that before in another MH and they are much better. But I'm having a problem accessing the tanks.

After removing all the lines and connections, the plastic panel is loose, but too big to get out of the door opening. There does not seem to be any way to remove this panel without cutting it in half. When I did my factory tour, I noted the panel was installed before the sides were, so I guess Monaco never considered that someone my wish to access this area.

Anyone out there that did the same thing and either figured out how to remove the panel, or have some other suggestions?

Thanks much, John.

Our 2008 Diplomat has the same white panel, however there is a small access panel in the upper right hand corner that will allow limited access. Don't know about the Camelot but on the curb side there is a access door forward of the rear wheels that is secured by two screws. Remove the screws and you will have easy access to the tanks.

John, I looked in the archives at a video showing the wet bay of a 2009 Camelot. Yours looks similar to mine with the bottom 1/3rd to 1/2 open to the tanks. When I installed my tank monitor strips I did everything blindly by reaching up behind the panel for the install. Mine even had casting numbers and designs that I had to sand off before adhering the strips. The tanks are tallest at the wet bay side (drivers side) of the coach.

I attached my tank strips and wired to the propane tank. I fed the "bell wire" up through an opening behind my toilet that was located above the passenger side of the tanks. I fished it under the shower pan and into the wall panel where all of my monitors are located.

I don't have the same coach as you but was able to get that white panel out by dropping it down to clear the top of the door opening and bending it slightly. It did not break and went back in without a problem. I had the area opened up so that I could install a power hose reel above the tanks.

I replaced my probes with these http://http://www.rvprobes.com/home.html I cut my wet bay panel in half with a small hacksaw blade (being careful not to cut any wires or anything else behind the panel) I started the cut at the edge of the opening for the water pump switch (with the cover removed) When its all put back together the switch cover hides some of the cut. It dosent look bad at all. The rest of the cut could be covered with a moulding of some type. Once the panel was removed the new probes were a piece of cake to install (10 minutes max) and they work with the existing monitor. I hope this helps you.....Bruce

John, have you tried to get into the service bay from the panel on the back of the second passthrough storage bay? When that panel is removed on my coach there looks like good access to this bay and I think I could actually crawl into it. I want to install the See-Level system on our coach as well so I will be interested in your progress. I will not be home to look at our coach until this weekend but will do so and let you know what I see. One thing I know for sure is that access to the black and gray tank is more difficult that on our old 2007 Endeavor.

Another thing I want to do is put a water valve/faucet on the white cover you are removing so I have a source for black tank flush water - older coach had same but not this one. I also want to put a check valve on the black tank flush line so I don't get all the backflow when I remove the flush water hose.

Good luck.

I've been into that panel but it won't give enough access to properly install the See Level sensor strips. There is too much stuff (water lines, cables, etc.) to allow me to get to the tanks. I am investigating just cutting an access panel in the plastic panel. I'll take some pictures so you can see what I've done.

I dont have a Camelot, I have a Cayman. On the passanger side of the coach opposite the wet storage compartment is a blank (no handle) bay door. The panel had a hinge like the rest of the compartment doors.

on the side of the panel opposite the hinge in the crack between the panel for the rear door was two tabs with a screw. I could easily get a Philips screw driver in and unscrew the two screws. The panel opened like a door.

I then have full access to the back side of all tanks.

You might want to check yours to see if it is similar

On our coach this is not a good option because the tanks are sloped to drain toward the street side of the coach.

My Camelot has a different arrangement for all the tanks and that is what John is attempting to deal with. The fresh water tank is nicely accessible with a door that opens to expose the side of the tank with all the level sensors in easy reach. The black and gray tanks however are not easy to get to. The curb side opposite these tanks holds the propane tank so it looks like the only way to gain access to these tanks is to go behind the service bay white cover as John points out. One step forward and two steps back for this tank layout. I want to do something to the level indicators on our black and gray tanks, as a minimum I want to install probes like these -

Horst Miracle Probes for Wastewater Tanks in Recreational Vehicles RVs

Where there is a will there is a way.

On my 07 Camelot, I tried for hours to get that panel out of there. I finally cut it in half (well 2/3 - 1/3) and used some plastic "H" channel to put it back together. If you didn't know what to look for you couldn't tell what I did. I used that "H" channel they use for plastic lattice. It's about 2 inches wide and rigid. Picked a spot where there wasn't any writing or fittings to get in the way. Made things so easy it get it in and out.

Carl, do you have any pictures? I am curious what is behind that panel when removed and does it provide access to the tank sides. Thanks for the feedback.

Lew,

I'll have to look through my pics. Yes you can get to the end of the tanks and the sensors with the panel removed (at least on the 07).
