Hey everyone, I have the normal 12v outlet in my center dash by the radio and such but I purchased another 12v outlet from monaco, so that I can install it to the left of the driver on the steering dash or on the left hand dash to plug my gps in so the other one can be used for phones and things. Can I just splice into the wires going to the original one (using proper wire connector of course) to hook up the one to be installed on the left of driver. And if I choose can I install a dash switch with the new one in case I would like to turn off the gps without unplugging. And can that switch be also spliced to the wires going back to the original outlet. Thanks

I don't see why not. The worst that can happen is you would blow a fuse if the two things pugged in pull too much power. I wish Monaco had installed two outlets. My Bounder had three of them up front. Two on the dash and one under the dash.
I installed one under the co-pilots seat of my HR.

FWIW I did the same thing a couple of years ago with No problem. I did not include a switch but it should not be a problem either. The main thing you do not want to do is overload the fuse. I actually run 3 plugs off the the original port, GPS, Tire Pressure Monitor and Walki-Talki charger.

I have a 12 volt receptacle on the center pedestal at the top of the entrance steps in my MH. I, like you guys wanted more. I removed that recep. and behind it was 2 wires providing 12 volts with conectors attached. Seems the factory ran 2 sets of wires and only conected 1. I went to the Auto parts and purchased a double recept. Mounted it under the dash and pluged into the wires. Works great.

You are right gramps, they could of easily installed at least one more on the driver side. And I agree you would have to not overload the fuse. I was in a RV store yesterday and they were selling this triple outlet adapter, but you had to plug it in the one supplied outlet in the center dash and then you would have wire running back and forth
roscoesdad, I only see one set of wires, so far as i can reach back there. That was going to be one of my questions, is there a extra set behind dash or in the side panel besides driver? i will ck that

FWIW On my unit I could just take out the bottom drawer in the center cabinet and look behind or remove the plastic panel holding the radio and reach down to find the extra set of wires. I think they had them Ty wrapped so you may not see them looking through the little hole.
