I have a 2007 Monaco Knight PDQ38 with the Cummins 330 ISC engine. There is no coolant filter on the engine. I am going to add a remote mount coolant filter and would like to hear form someone who has done this already. I have called Monaco, Cummins, Fleetguard, and the local Cummins Dealer. My question seems to draw a blank. I would like to know the best location to tape into the system. My thinking for now is tapping into the heater line before the heater and again after the heater. Would like to come off the water pump if there is a tapped of plug to use for access. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

A few months ago I investigated installing a coolant filter on our ISL. I too called Cummins and Monaco and inquired on the Yahoo Monaco group. The general feeling was that it was not needed. Cummins said that coolants are much better and the manufacturing process left no residue and they said one was not needed. Cummins said the main purpose of the filter on the later engines was to meter SCA into the coolant but with said the newer SCA's does not deplete as quickly as the original SCA composition. My take away is that if you perform the normal service and check SCA quarterly a filter would not be of much benefit. I heard the take off for the filter on older engines was on the thermostat housing. My '06 endeavor does not have a take off fitting.

Logthumper, you may be calling it by the wrong name when you talk to Cummins. Try asking them about a Coorosion Reistor. That is what the coolant filter is for. Depending on which filter you use, it adds DCA. Different filter for different amounts of DCA. If you don't need DCA added, you may not even need the filter.

I have a 330 ISC and my filter is mounted on the driver's side of the engine, and it is just forward of the Oil filter. The part mounted to the engine has a twist valve to shut off coolant to the filter when you are changing it.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks for all the replies. I still like the idea of a filter. Added today. See pics below.
Thanks again,
