Our previous coach had a manual air bag dump that would work with the ignition off. The one on our 2006 Diplomat only seems to work when the ignition is on. Is this true?

Also, does the Power Gear automatic leveling system dump the air bags or do I need to dump them before starting the leveling process?

Thanks,

Bob

You are correct. The air dump switch only works with the ignition on. The leveling system is not connected to the air dump system and must be operated seperately AFTER you have dumped the air.
Extend slides
Dump Air
Extend jacks

Reverse for departing

Inflate air bags
Retract jacks
Retract slides.

On our coach I can dump the air by switching the ignition switch to the left. I was glad to find that option since it avoids the annoying low air warning alarm when the ignition is switched to the right.

Hmmmm......I'll have to try that one. The low air alarm drives me nuts and I keep worrying about the neighbors when the door is open.

Lots of discussion about leveling, dumping air, etc. Here is what I have found.

My manual states, and most everyone agrees, put slides out first, dump air, then level.

But a couple of weeks ago, I had DW do the leveling when I was outside. She first moved the slides out and then sat down to do the leveling. The first thing the system did was dump the air when she pressed the leveling system's on/off button. After the air dumped, then the system started leveling the coach. In other words, the leveling system will automatically dump the air before starting the leveling process.

Is it just mine, or do the other 2007's or 2008's do the same thing?

I have automatic hydraulic leveling on mine. The air dump switch works on "off" and "accessory" but not "on". The leveling system only works with the key "on." Go figure. When pushing the "auto" button on the leveling system, the system will dump air for a short time but not enough to deflate the air bags. I just pump the brake pedal several times to dump the air and then push the auto button. So, the answer is: different models and years behave differently.
