Air Bags

I have a 2002 Endeavor ISC 330. My MH is parked beside my garage at home, when I parked it I Dumped the air to about 40 lbs, and then put my jacks down. Since then the air has leaked out, it has been parked about 3 weeks, should I start the engine and bring the air pressure back up or will it hurt to just leave it as is on the jacks. Thanks Roy PS They are still about 15 pounds in the bags

It does not hurt it to sit on empty air bags as long as you don't move it. Besides, the weight of the coach is on the jacks so the suspension is not carrying the load.

We take ours down to about 40 lbs and leave it on the jacks all winter. We have never had a problem getting the air back in it when the spring comes and start using it. I would not start the engine just to fill the air bags, if you do then take it for a spin and run it for awhile to get the temps up and everything warmed up including transmission. Cummins does not suggest just starting the engine and sitting there for a few minutes, they have told us to just leave it alone.

Your advice is right on! The reason you don't want to start it without taking it out for a spin and warming everything up to operating temps, is that water is a by-product of internal combustion engines. And unless the water is fully evaporated, as it would be at normal operating temps, it can cause internal engine parts to rust.

If we're not using the coach at the time, I just make it a personal habit not to start up the engine unless I intend to drive it for a little while. Learned this habit from an old aircraft machanic who once told me, "Never start the plane unless you're going to fly". Same thing applies to any internal combustion engine.

In the winter I try to "exercise" the coach about once every 4-6 weeks anyway. I'll get it out and drive it down the highway for about 15 miles and back again. I think it's good for a lot of systems, not the least of which is the tires. (And it satisfies a winter itch in me. )
