Does anyone know if a 2008 Dynasty uses the same R950011 air dryer filter as most other Monacos. My manual does not show anything for this part. I was underneath my unit this am and the lablelis not readable. It certainly looks like the Meritor set up. BTW : I am not looking forward to changing this filter. It is buried way up on the left hand side nt the tag axle. Maybe plastic man could get up there!! I have changed these on other vehicles and almost always they are near impossible to remove. I can get a strap wrench around the filter but if it wont budge there is not enough room for a pipe wrench or Channel locks. What fun. Who decided to put it there?? Kay Toolson??

Moisheh,

You should call Monaco Tech support to make sure but I'm pretty sure that is the correct setup as Monaco was using it in '03 when my coach was born and I think they were still using it at the end.

I did mine last year and it looks harder than it is. I used a NAPA strap wrench and a 1/2" breaker bar on a 12" extension and it broke loose without much grief. You can't see the seat so make sure you account for the old "O" ring & lube the seat.

Be sure to drain the air tanks before you start. Also there is a Pacar equal that is about $30 instead of the insane price of the R950011.

Thanks Steve: I do have a decent strap wrench. It was the only filter wrench I had that was large enough for the Hydraulic filter. It takes a 1/2 inch johnson bar. I will check with Monaco Tech.

Wabco Air Dryer Filter Cartridge ADSP-CART - eBay (item 230538280566 end time Dec-13-10 08:46:04 PST)

Good price quick shipping. I have used several of these from this dealer, no problems. If this is the first replacement on your 08 be sure to clean out all the gunk in the bottom of the casting once you have the filter off. Real long extension and breaker bar will get it loose. It is bigger in diameter tha oil filters but NAPA has a proper size band wrench for it. I'm sure this mechanism is a Kay T gotcha!!!

Thanks: FleetPride has them in stock at $35.00 I asked that seller if his were genuine and made in N.A. Usually the ones that are real cheap are chinese knockoffs. I am sure that some are OK but sometimes the knockoffs are substandard.

Dick: You refer to an OEM replacement. I assume you mean this filter was a non OEM product. Sounds like it was also Chinese. NAPA does show that filter for $82.99 but I think it is a USA filter. There are a few NA mfrs. of that filter other than the OEM Bendix is one of them. There are a lot of Chinese parts for truck air systems. Some are decent while others are horrible. I am always cautious on anything safety or longevity of system related. It is like that old Fram (yuk) ad: pay me now or pay me later. What was the Napa part # for that filter?

I have bought a couple of the Cartridges on Ebay. The first one was $29 plus shipping and was made in Germany. The second time I odered from the same vender and the item was from China. The guy was honorable accepted it back and refunded full price including shipping both ways. He explained that the last shipment he received from his distributor were from China.
I then ordered from another Vendor $29 including shipping.
After the Chinese version I asked the Vendor beforehand where it was made.
This one was from Germany.I think in Today's Marketplace the question of where an item was made is very important for certain products. Incidentally the difference between the two was obvious.

No, I ment than it was the original manufacturer. It was a Wabco-Meritor. I got it on NAPA half price Friday, but I don't believe the half price applied to a non-NAPA filter. It was identical to the original in every way. I always try to use original brand filters. Dick

Dick1142,
What this about a "NAPA half price Friday"? When I google it, all I get are hits on Napa Valley.
Thanks in advance.

I get mine from the Peterbuilt Parts Store for $29
PeterbiltPartsStore.com - Product Catalog - Search Result Page

If you are looking for a filter made in the USA I think you are going to be disappointed. I have looked at a Bendix version of this filter at another truck place and it also said made in China on it.

Sorry for the delay responding, but I am on the road headed south. Maybe it is just a local "thing", but all NAPA stores in my area have half price filters on the first friday of every month. (I live on the OR/WA border).

The Meritor web page specifically states that the German filter is not to be used in North America. Beware of the "will fit" cartridge filters. They are not metal. They are plastic.

Hi All,
Both German Made filters I bought were Steel not Plastic. These were described in an earlier answer in this thread ( number 8). I am not sure if a Plastic Filter would withstand the pressure at all.
