New RVer... recently bought a 2005 Monaco Knight 40PLQ. Can someone tell me the proper sequence for air dump (engine running?), lowering jacks and leveling (engine running?) and extending slides (engine off?)... upon arrival. Is the departure sequence just the reverse? Thanks!!

Different manufacturers have different instructions. If you post this in a Monaco forum rather than the generic Class A forum you will likely get the correct procedure for YOUR coach.

We just bought our first DP...During PDI the tech says slides out then level...Then I see a sticker that reads Warning !!!! Level before extending slides...HUMMMM...
We level....extend slides, then dump the air if we are going to be set up for more then a couple of days... Right or wrong it works.. D

So it's OK to dump air with the jacks extended?

Sides...dump....jacks for me. The only time we had problems with our previous (Travel Supreme) was jacks then slides on set up. Jacks put too much twist on the frame even after setting the null with a measuring tape on a level concrete floor.

Monaco/HR manuel states to extend slides, dump air then level. When leaving reverse the order. On air level coaches (high end models) it might be different.

Before anything I shut down my engine and move key to accessory position then my HWH jack system does the rest. It is automatic and with one touch it goes through it's sequence; dumps air, then lowers the jacks to level the coach. Only then do I put out my slides.

I have never experienced frame twist even on the most un-level places.

Think about what you want the coach to do, first you want it lower to the ground to make it easier to get in and out. Also you do not want to overextend the jacks, and you want the coach level. So dump the air, extend the jacks to level and finally put out the slides. Most coaches will not extend the jacks, or put out the slides with the engine running. If you try to dump the air with the motor running, the compressor will try to refill the suspension at the same time. So it is just like Dancing with the Stars...Dump,Level,Slide....... or was it Dip, Level,Slide?
Hope this all makes sense. DACOTAH

WeBeGone2 is absolutly correct for a Monaco product, other may be different, but the correct sequence for a Monaco product is as follows:

Stop engine
Remove any slide locks, extend slides
Turn the ingition to ON, do not start, Dump air, this is quickly accomplished by depressing the brakes several times until the pressure lowes then use the air dump switch to bring the air bags all the way down
Level the coach, Turn key to OFF
Start Blender (this important step isn't in Monacos book)
Have fun

Reverse the order to leave.

Dennis
