Air Governor?
It seems to have started acting odd recently. I had the Dq6026 haldex kit done in March 13. Just bought the same kit at the FMCA rally in Goshen. I'm a little hesitant of messing with it though. I've worked on cars but crawling under an air bag system seems like something I should have done by cummins. I'm going to be through Grand Rapids MI in early July and am thinking I should have them do the DQ6020 kit. I like that shop.

Thoughts?

Jeff is this the OEM Haladex pure air plus if so it sounds like you may have waited to long to install the inner filter Coalescing filter, was it ruptured when you serviced it, if so the dryer is almost impossible to clean the hair out if not then there is a lower rebuild kit DQ 6020 at about $40.
To set the air governor on your Dynasty it should be on top of the passenger frame rail in rear of coach in engine bay and has a cap that looks like a little Mexican hat, how to set the air governor Bendix # 275491, Midland #KN18530. Screw in or CW to lower and screw out or CCW to raise PSI.
Most folks set the pressure to 120# some set it to 130#

They made no mention of it bring ruptured in March of 2013 when cummins Ocala installed the Dq2016 kit. I will get the dq6020 or make sure cummins has it.

This is NOT my area of expertise but could it be the governor just needs to be tweaked up a tiny bit?

The Air Dryer if working properly will spit at 90# if the governor tells it its "full"....maybe even less air pressure.

Instead of getting the DQ6020 rebuild kit for $50 would one get a direct replacement dryer (without filters) for much more? Should I stick with the same unit?

Jeff it's hard to say you would need to know if the dryer is contaminated and you don't know and the only to know is to remove and tear brown the unloaded to see if it has the hair from the interior filter or what. To the simplest answer is replace with a Meritor Wabco R955205, that is what I did.

Before buying parts, you should check for a leak in the line from the compressor to the dryer.
It will only leak with the engine running, so hearing it is difficult.
Have it running and up to the highest pressure it will go. Stick your head in near it and have someone shut off the engine.
In doing that, you may hear the little bit of air, in the dryer, leak out.
I have found many lines chaffed thru, at the mounting clamps.

The right one is a Haledex pure air plus, the problem with that dryer is it has a coalescing inner filter and if not changed regular the filter can rupture contaminating the dryer with hair fibers and can hang the unloaded valve wide open parking you on the side of the road with no air and that's why most folks replace that sucker.

If I keep up with the maintenance is the haladex pure air plus a better unit than the Meritor Wabco R955205
I think I have a leak somewhere back there. I ordered the DQ6020 major rebuild kit and will take the dryer off and rebuild it or have a truck shop do it. Still deciding on that. I just bought the DQ6016 in Goshen so I have my next filter change ready in two years.

From what I understand, the Wabco dryer is simpler, cheaper to service and not likely to cause problems like the Haladex. I'm going to switch over as soon as I get a chance to make the swap.

From what I can tell, all the approx $150 Meritor Wabco R955205 on eBay are copies and not genuine Meritor Wabco. Are these what everyone is successfully installing?
