Air pressure drops

2003 Monaco Dynasty... compressor kicks on and builds air pressure to 130 and kicks off. Immediately the front tank needle (green) starts to drop to 120 then stops. Depending on road & braking over the next hour, the rear (orange) needle catches up with the front then they both slowly bleed down to the level that compressor kicks on to 130 psi..... then process starts over again.
No air bags are leaking and the soapy water isn't yielding any leaks.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas I need to have looked at?

Thanks,
Kurt

Could be a defective pressure switch. Check your front purge valve to ensure its hold air.

Losing 10 psi when your dryer purges is normal.

Are you saying you can drive for an hour before your compressor fills your tanks back up to 130 psi again?

While driving, some air will be use for suspension adjustments. That's if you have air ride suspension.

The governor allows the pressure to reach 130 and then shuts down the compressor until it drops down 20 psi or so. The 10 psi drop may be the air dryer purge assist.

I think that sounds pretty normal. Mine charges to about 125, then slowly bleeds down to less than 100 when it will charge up again. If I use the brake and the road isn't really rough, it'll stay between those numbers for a long time.

Especially if you have a Wabco air dryer--it uses about 10 lbs to regenerate the desiccant after the compressor stops.

System Saver Single Cartridge Air Dryer

When the compressor unloads, the purge valve opens:
On 1200E, P, U, 1800E, P, U, the dryer purges the desiccant
cartridge and expels any water collected in the dryer base.
— Regeneration valve opens.
On 1200 regeneration models, when the regeneration valve
opens.
— Dry system air flows back through the dryer, 10 psi (69 kPa)
is taken from the supply and secondary tanks for the
regeneration.
— Back flow dries desiccant, preparing it for the next cycle.

Yes 96Wideglide, if the road is smooth & no braking needed, I can drive for an hour before the compressor kicks back on. Within the hour, both needles will bleed down together then eventually compressor will kick on and restore pressure.

Dang, you must be on a really smooth road for it to take an hour before the air suspension uses enough air for the compressor to come back on.
