For me a good reference is to check the mud flap.
When air is out it is almost ground level and when it is raised , about 6 to 8 in. from ground.
As soon as I turn off the motor the air is automatically dumped. This just to make sure it rest on frame (almost)when I level the coach.

What kind of rig do you have that automatically dumps when the ignition is off. Just curious.

In the English language we tend to use all types of short cuts and slang. Althrough I understand the terminology is wrong, I always put lbs of air in my tires and if you ask me how much pressure do I run in my tires I would say "32 lbs" or whatever. How many of us blow our nose with a Kleenex and not a tissue. Wal-Mart sells Kleenex and they also sell tissue, but if my wife sends me to Wal-Mart to buy some tissue she puts Kleenex on the list. And when I come home with the Wal-Mart brand she is happy that the tissue is not Kleenex but it is still tissue!

Let me get this straight, you guys.

40 PSI means 40 POUNDS per square inch. So to abbreviate POUNDS instead of POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH is not acceptable.
Ok for now on I hope you practice what you preach and always say PSI or POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH every time you speak about pressure. How lame.
I'm unsubscribing to such a stupid thread.

It is a Newmar Essex 2008.
Need to check that it goes back to "travel" level do when we leave. . (should be done automatically)
See a few time MH deriving with back mud flap touching ground....

psi or lbs....when talking pressure....I've always understood it to be pressure.

I wonder where this had gone if it was a question about a hot water heater?

mine drops 3"-4" when bags are dumped

As I was told once by a picky person, it is not a "hot water heater" but a "water heater". If the water is already hot then you don't need to heat it. I still can't stop saying "hot water heater"
