05 Ambass PDQ I just noticed that I have only one air leveling valve on the front end. I have taiked to a few of my friends and found that they have 2 valves in the front and only one inthe back. It seems to me that one on each side would be a better way to go. Has anyone added a valve to the front? And of so any benifit?
Jeff

My 01 Imperial has the same as yours 1 on front and 2 on back, which is standard for Roadmaster chassis. I don't see any benefit to adding one on the front. If It isn't working right I would just replace it.

My 2005 Ambassador PRT has 1 on front and 2 on rear. I would suggest checking the ride height. Mine was about 1 inch high in the front. I lowered it to specs and it rides much better.

Thank you so much for the response. How do you find out what the ride height spec. should be? And where do take the measurement from?
Jeff

My owners manual gave me the spec. and told me where to measure. I made a template out of aluminum scrap. One side is proper for rear meas. and the other side proper for front meas. I can check the height in a few seconds. Adjusting the height is another thing. Be extra cautious because you can let the MH down on top of you while under there adjusting. Get very familiar with the procedure or carry it to a shop you trust.

Thank you for the info. I guess one of my big curiositiesis is that why there are some rigs with 2 levelers in front and 1 in the back, and some the otherway around?
Thanks,Jeff

The reasons are many but basically the engineers choice, and the manufacturers choice to cut cost.
Our coach has 10 air bags, 4 on the front axle, 2 in front of the drive axle, 2 between the drive axle and tag axle and 2 behind tag axle. All air bags are used for drive level and parked leveling as our coach does not have leveling jacks.

You may be right and cost may be the only reason. The solution is bit more elegant with three. A plane is defined by three points, and the logic to control three is simpler with three rather than 4 points or 6, whether air or hydraulic leveling. So if cost were no factor I would design to level from three points, if it were me.
