Aladdin Problem

My main engine screen is not receiving data anymore in my 2004 Monaco Windsor. All I am seeing is X's. All the other screens are working. Since all my analog gauges are working I assume that the problem is between the engine ECU and the Aladdin unit. As we travel a lot I have had a hard time finding and booking into a repair facility. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to where to look for the interruption in data to the unit.

Thanks

I'm not sure how yours works but my 04 HR Imperial is a twin to your Windsor. Mine only displays data when the ignition key is on. When it is off it displays XXX or simply the last thing it saw before being shut off in the data areas. If that isn't the problem try doing a "power down VCM" from the main screen.
Mine also displays gibberish in the trip log area when the key is off.

Look to see if you have a video switcher these some times have the house and engine buses connected to the video switcher to enable you to see engine and house functions. A company called Silver leaf has some Alladin wiring diagrams on there Web Site simplysmarter.com

If it is showing XXX then it is before the video switcher. A video switcher failure would cause the whole screen to be bad. That kind of failure is either caused by the ECU, the interconnecting cable or the Aladdin interface unit. First thing to check is if the plugs on the ECU and interface unit are tight.

Saul, if the video switcher was bad then you would lose the whole picture and not blocks of data. They are normally located behind the dash on the passenger side. The interface units are normally located on the overhead in the basement storage bays and Engine Control Unit (ECU) is normally either attached to the engine or is in the engine compartment.
