All locked up and nowhere to go...
Has this every happened to anyone out there?
So my wife decided to hit the locking mechanism on the keypad this morning. Locked me and the dog inside. There must be 3 locks in the entry door because the deadbolt was unlocked as was the auto-style lock yet the door would not open.
So there I was thinking, "Am I going to be jumping out the living room window before daylight so nobody sees me?"
Nope.
I got out the book and there was every detail on programming the system along with the key fob. Well we don't have a key fob. The reprogramming required the door to be open.
Back to my stunt show.
Then it occurred to me that the passenger-side window might be close enough to that keypad.
Sure enough.
Had to key in the code upside down and blind but I'm finally free.

Is it possible? On our '06 Dynasty, until I finally tore into the door and slightly adjusted and well lubricated the linkages, if the door were closed tightly, the latch almost would not release. After the "maintenance", our door is still tight, but it's better. In normal daily use, only the bottom pin actually catches. The only time we pull it shut solid enough to latch the upper pin is when we are on the road, as it virtually eliminates wind noise. But when both pins are captured, it is still pretty solid to open. I'm thinking that to go back in and tweak it until both pins latch the same, we may end up with a bit of a tighter door during normal use, but a bit more wind noise on the road. So what we have now is working well for us.
The point is, during the coaches first three or four years, not always, but occasionally, you would swear the door had a third lock on it. We had to pull hard enough that I worried about the integrity of the internal linkages.

Well I didn't want to force the door to open. Wasn't sure what that would break. It never felt like that before when we'd exit and sure enough, when I stretched out the window and hot the buttons, the door opened and it always did.
I posted this for a bit of fun but now I'm thinking that RV folks should test this and be sure they could never be locked in by accident. If I hadn't figured it out I would have been jumping out the window and although invigorating for a second, the landing would not be preferable.

Jim, could you get at the linkage to lubricate, thru the small access panel, or did you have to remove the entire inner door panel?
Happy Holidays ... Ben.

Lubricate the 2 door pins so they move. They shouldn’t be stuck.

All locked up and nowhere to go...
Even though those pins are designed to float a little, our lower one became so loose and unscrewed enough that it jammed the door. Took some effort with a small pair of pliers to screw it in enough to allow the door to open. I make it a habit now to check it frequently.
