Several months ago, my alternator failure light and alarm sounded. It was a failure of the Xantrex Echo-charger. I unhooked the charger at the time and it fixed the problem. Later I replaced the Echo-Charger.

Headed to Houston (home) after a two week stay in Indianapolis. On the way there, we kept smelling burning rubber thru the dash a/c and occasionally it wouldn't cool very well.

About 30 minutes from Nacogdoches, Texas, the alternator light/alarm sounded. I thought first of the Echo-charger, stopped and disconnected it. The light and alarm kept sounding. It was immediately followed by the LOW BATTERY alarm, HI COOLANT HEAT, and STOP ENGINE. It was a broken fan belt.

Fortunately, we were relatively close to the Foretravel plant. Those guys stayed late, waited on us to arrive by flat bed tow, took us right into the bay, provided bathroom, cold bottled water for all 5 of us, and generous hospitality.

The fan belt is/was only 2 years old. I'm thinking that the a/c compressor was freezing and cooked the belt.

Any ideas?

Bud

I don't think the AC compressor is freezing. If there was moisture in the lines it would freeze at the orifice and not the compressor. I would check the belt tensioner
and the pulley alignment.

Is there a Foretravel in your future?

Bob!

So, we are waiting for our coach to arrive on the Flat Bed, like a wounded behemoth.

Tyle Fore, at my request, took us inside the most, the most, unbelievably terrific, absolutely breath-taking Phenix. My wife says, "I would want to take more trips if we had something like this..."

I'm pretty sure if I sell my children, their children, my cars, and maybe my house, empty my bank accounts, and knock over a couple of banks, I'll only have to borrow $799,995.00.

So yes, I think there is a Foretravel in my future. The only problem is, where would I go for advice?!? I almost quit here completely when Monaco Mama left for a while. Gotta weigh the pluses and minuses!

Bud,

My wife also loves the Foretravel, but I told her she would need to find a wealthy boy friend if she wanted to ride around in one. I have to admit they are very nice.
