If you're talking about the little black antenna about 10" tall I think it's just the am/fm antenna. I suspect that you'd need a seperate satellite receiver for sat radio.

Go to Radio Shack, they will fix you up. You will need a receiver and contract with Sirius/XM.

Ours came sat radio ready (SiriusXM) and I do believe that the black antenna is for that purpose. It's either that one or the wire antenna sitting right next to it.

I have never tried it my self but I have seen that you can buy a subscription at f.x. Walmart. I am not sure exactly how you activate your subscription but Walmart oucht to know since they sell them.

Somewhere in the owner's info you should have info about the radio. If not go to sirius.com and FAQs for your radio. And they do have packages that are for oldie channels only. Don't get a full package. Oh yeah, that's your satellite antenna. FYI, your radio is a 'radio' so it also needs an antenna.

Although it may sound like your "satellite radio ready" car is all set to get XM or SIRIUS, that's usually not the case. Typically, the car/RV will have an in-dash radio that will work with a satellite radio tuner -- but the tuner itself, and the required antenna, are not yet installed.

TEDDE......JFGOBUCS is correct. There should be two short antennas on your roof at the front. One is for the prewired CB radio and one is for the dash radio. If you want XM radio, you need to buy an XM unit that will have a plug that plugs into your current dash radio. (The XM unit provides the XM connection while your radio provides all of the power and controls.) You'll also have to run an XM antenna to the roof. The good news is that you can run an antenna up into your front cap. The antenna will shoot through the roof. In my front cap I located a large metal support frame that I placed the magnetic antenna on top of. I had to move it over a couple of inches on the first try because it ended up under a piece of metal framing that was incorporated in the roof. I lost signal when driving north. I moved it two inches and has worked well since.

Apparently as there are RV makers there are antenna installers. I have two antennas on my unit. The front one over the cockpit is for the front radio. The second antenna, located mid-coach and to the side, is for the outside radio in the entertainment center. Units RARELY come with a preinstalled CB antenna because it is not a given that you will have or use a CB. Now for the radio, my radio says satellite ready and is. It is a function of the radio (AM/FM/Weather/Satellite) and all you need is the radio serial number and a subscription to Sirius/XM. And when I put the CB in I had to install a third antenna. Read your manuals!!!!

Ours has two antennas, one for the CB/am-fm dash radio, and one for the entertainment center reciever. The Kenwood radio was "sirius ready" which meant that I had to buy a separate reciever for the satellite. I used the 10 disc changer cable to attach the XM radio reciever and adaptor to make the thing compatible with the Sirius set up in the dash radio. I punched a hole in the roof and mounted the antenna for the XM on the roof. It works really well in this configuration but the controls are a bit confusing since they appear a Sirius jargon on the face of the radio but are using XM input.

thelastplace.......and you must know the coach manufacturer. Most Monacos came with a prewired CB antenna. One of the things Monaco did as a quality product.

I'm not a Monaco owner, but i am interested in Satellite threads.

My MH did not come with a satellite antenna. I did, however, have a Sirius satellite receiver in my TOAD, the one that you buy at an electronics store and fits on the dash or windshield. I did not want to drill holes, or tape the little "puck" antenna to the roof and run the wire. So, I installed the "puck" antenna in the middle of the dash nest to the windshield. One time, heading west, we lost signal, so I plugged in the iPod for a 100 miles or so.

Good luck.

If the radio says "satellite ready" it does not have a satellite receiver. As stated by others, it is just made to support an external Sirius or XM receiver. If the radio says it's "Sirius Ready" or "XM Ready" it MAY have a built in receiver that just needs activation. I doubt your coach has a satellite radio antenna, unless equipped with Sirius or XM receivers. Sirius and XM are one company, but Sirius and XM are different systems (technically) and offer some shared programming and some programming that's not available on the other.

IMHO, Sirius/XM Radio is a very difficult company to deal with. You won't know until you try to cancel. If you do elect for their service, I prefer Sirius' programming over XM and prefer the business practices of Sirius over XM. I would recommend that you not pay by credit card but rather force them to collect from you every year. Their subscriptions are auto renewal type subscriptions. If you don't cancel, they will renew.
